We are lucky to have gotten the right coach who can deal with the ncaa problems of portal and cost. He is probably the best at handling and managing the NIL, portal and cost. The money spent on this roster was not only for this year, there are many players from this roster that will be here for 2 or 3 more years. When you factor this on what was spent it is not as bad as people think. This cost is for players this year and 1 or 2 more years and some of them 3 years. I think he is one of the hardest working coaches and seems to have The Drive like Saban but just goes about it differently that the players and coaches prefer. Still hard believe we have him and look forward to getting back to competing for Natty's.

Lane did a great job handling media. He has grown over the years. If you looked at his early days at USC every player would tell you he was the reason you saw those historic offenses despite them having Sarkesian on staff as well. Sark would communicate to the player and Lane was quiet but the architect. This is the result of maturity over the years in this industry. We riding coach LK!

The media, especially the Ole Miss “media” cried because he’s on social media all the time, then they cried because he’s not posting or saying anything, now they’re crying because he talked too long and they didn’t get to ask any “gotcha” questions… they are pathetic…

They asked about NIL budget, 9 game schedule, stupid arse attempted set up about Ole Miss & diversity, and about the Auburn game.
ETA but that sec now group with saban he went much more into football, and I am sure throughout the day more clips will come out of actually relevant stuff

That sounds great in theory. It would be great if teams could lock in a guy for 3 years at an annual salary of $200k while the market inflates. But the reality is none of the guys have multi-year "employment" contracts. That means they are "free agents" every season and there is nothing to prevent them from trying negotiate a new, higher paying, deal ahead of next season.
His comments about freshman NIL deals speak to that. Why pay a premium for several blue chip HS recruits who have never performed at the D-1 level when they can just take the money, do nothing, then leverage you for a raise ahead of next season? Or simply leave. It's a better play to pay a premium for proven players.

Kiffin did not say he wouldn't pay a premium for blue chip HS recruits. He said he will be selective on them. We are offering Royal top dollar. But so is Texas. We are in bidding wars for many players.
Agree on the multi-year re-negotiations. Some players are getting new offers each year, and we are having to up our deals to keep the ones we want.
