Lane Kiffin Monday Press Conference (McNeese St. Week)...Link and Tidbits Inside

No. 10 LSU (3-1) returns to Tiger Stadium on Saturday to face McNeese St. (2-3) in a non-conference matchup. Kickoff is set for 6:45pm CT on the SEC Network.

The Tigers are coming off a dominant 35-6 win over Texas A&M, improving to 3-1 overall and 1-1 in SEC play. LSU outgained the Aggies 506-197, while Sam Leavitt threw for 312 yards and two touchdowns.

McNeese St. snapped a two-game losing streak Saturday with a 27-24 win over East Texas A&M. The Cowboys are 2-3 overall and 1-2 in Southland Conference play.

This will be the third meeting between the two schools. LSU won 32-10 in 2010 and 34-7 in 2021.

Press Conference Tidbits:
- LSU's road matchup against Kentucky on Saturday, October 10, in Lexington will kick off at 6 pm CT on ESPN.

- LSU defensive tackle Deuce Geralds was named Freshman of the Week...he posted five tackles, including a career-high 2.0 sacks totaling 11 yards in losses.

- Leading up to the A&M game, Kiffin said the offense worked on Sam trusting his receivers and giving them a chance to make plays versus Sam opting to use his feet.

- Kiffin doesn't know the timeline for Whit Weeks' return.

- On Dilin Jones: complimented his ability to make people miss and his pass protection (especially since Sam gets blitzed a lot).

- On Davhon Keys: he played really well against A&M...Kiffin told him he needed to play really physical...he made the tackle on the 4th down play.

- On Damien Shanklin being back on the team: Kiffin says he can't comment much on Shanklin but says he follows what LSU tells him to do.

- On Leavitt's hamstring injury: Kiffin plans to be extremely cautious with him this week.

- On Harlem Berry: says players can move up depth chart by working hard and proving coaches wrong...he said he did some good things and was proud of how he seized the opportunity, but he did mention that he needs to block better.

- On team depth and injuries: in portal era, you can't build depth like you used to...you can't stockpile players...so injuries are more significant than they used to be. Kiffin is considering not playing some players this weekend to protect them.

- Kiffin says he works hard to strike a balance between having a structured, discipline program and one that is fun and has swagger.
