LSU Russian is not a Landon Donivan fan,

Would this subject line be acceptable for the Rant? Based upon your logic it would be!

What is the cut off point? I know more about Russian than I do about Donivan. On TD a lot of people know Russian.

ETA: The ironic thing is, I've probably been to more professioal soccer games than these soccer lovers on this board. But I've only attended "major league" soccer games......in Europe. Not these irrelevant exhibitions in the U.S.

So we can't talk about famous sports figures and there link to LSU?

If Lebron tweeted the same thing, would we be having the discussion about whether this is rant worthy or not?

So you are an idiot or a troll?

What's so funny about this? Everyone knows the soccer here is sub par.

This was no exhibition. That was the final group stage game in the world cup and had that 2nd half stoppage time goal not happened we would have been eliminated in embarrassing fashion. Throw in the US's political tension with North Africa at that time around the Arab Spring and yes, it makes it one of the greatest moment's in US national sports history.

Not as good as the Miracle on Ice or Jessie Owens at the Berlin Olympics, but it's up there.

I remember watching that on my laptop at work and just exploding with glee. ran around the office screaming for 10 minutes and got a stern talking to from my boss

Then why is it so difficult to accept that an American soccer player is unknown to many Americans, including me?

Yet the soccer aficionados on this board consider it to be a personal insult, to the point where they start making juvenile insults.

For the record, I also don't know the names of any American professional rodeo riders or professional badminton players.

Actually, you are the one in here acting all insulted that someone dared to post a topic about soccer.

Actually, you are the only one in this thread who let it known that you had no idea who he was.

Nah. I only asked who the guy is.

I even clicked on your link to see who he is. Nothing jumped out at me. He made a reference to if LSU needed a kicker, but that didn't help much.

Then the insults began like I had insulted someone's mother.

Now I know who he is. Thanks.

You're right, you referred to soccer fans as "soccer girls"

Because you googled him like a badass on that ipad, right?

By the way, for those looking for it, here's the full ESPN broadcast of the goal. The quality isn't that great, but serviceable.

Right, on the third page of the thread.....after there were two pages of insults directed at me for not knowing who he is and at the posters who made fun of soccer.

You and the others really need to examine why you feel insulted because another poster does not know who the guy is. It's nothing personal towards you.

ETA: No, I didn't google him. I know all I need to know about him from your explanation.

Where did I insult you?

ETA: Please link the insults before you "soccer girls" comment

The only thing I see is "how in the hell could anyone not know who Landon Donovan is?" and if you really think that is an insult, then you must have been insulted a lot in life.
