re: land of the free and home of the TIGERS

It just hit me what all the "home of the tigers" reminds me of - Kellen Winslow after the TN game, calling himself a soldier. D-bag Extraordinaire
just about as cool as this guy.

Well, if you really want to get technical Baton Rouge is in Amercia which is the home of alot of things, tiger football being one of them.So why make a big deal out of shite that is not meant to be anything other than it is.

About a year ago, there was a thread on the Rant that went at least 15-16 pages. One side argued, quite passionately, that the fact they bought (or their daddy bought them) a ticket, gave them an open invitation to yell the f-bomb and numerous other obsenities as they chose regardless of the feelings and ages of the people around them. Shouting profanity when you're drunk is one thing, but these fans weren't remorseful or embarrassed even when they sobered up. It showed me that some people are just too caught up in their own immaturity to consider others, and to behave respectfully.

For those of you, like me, who would like your fellow Tiger fans to show the anthem (all 70 seconds of it) the respect it deserves, FORGET IT. It'll never happen. There is a reason why so many people consider LSU fans some of the crudest in the nation. This is just more evidence they are right.

I do understand where those who find it disrespectful are coming from.

But in the same right I would hope they would see the other view of things.


I have always been proud of my country and those who defend it.

I am also extremely proud to be able to attend this university, which to my knowledge is due to those brave men and women who have served or will serve our country.

But there is a time and a place for everything.

I can't image someone questioning my patriotism and respect over a little school spirit (also freedom of speech).

I could not agree with this more.

I don't chose to say this, but I don't find it nearly as bad or disappointing as seeing grown men leaving their hats on during the anthem. This truly makes me angry. To me, that is much more disrespectful than saying "Home of the Tigers"

OMG. Get a life. While I have not yet been invited to an LSU game, I can assure you guys are not the cruddest fans in the game.

Is the US not the home of the tigers? It is also the home of the gamecocks, the gators, the tide, my owls and every other university in the US.

I would think one would have to be an idiot if one were upset over the fact that a school takes pride in itself and its country. When a school and its fanbase cheers like that it shows pride and passion for both their school and their country.

What could be better?
