And early in the year is what I was talking about. McMullen only had 3 starts in the outfield early in the season prior to Stevenson getting regular PT...and Sciambra was getting most of the starts at that point. McMullen hasn't been out there much at all.

No Mot, McMullen has played way more outfield than Sciambra.

To justify Stevenson in centerfield with his .182 batting average, he would not only have to cover 1/2 of the field on fly balls, but he would at the very least need to be able to reach second base on a routine ground ball without the help of a relay man. Sadly, this is not the case.

Stevenson and Laird in the lineup is too much of a black hole. Laird is the lesser of the two evils. You don't give up much.. if anything.. with Laird in center over Steveson and you have a much better bat.

Earlier this season Mainieri said Stevenson may be the best center fielder he's ever seen play for him. Mainieri does love hyperboles, though. That's simply an absurd statement.

What part of early in the season do you not understand? I just checked the box scores, I'm not making it up.

I'm convinced that PM is thinking down the road. If we get to Omaha you are going to want as much speed as you can get in the outfield. The park there plays just as big as the Hoover Met.

Why wouldn't Mainieri want a batter at the plate with three attempts to find that outfield grass with his swing?

As mentioned earlier, he probably views it as Stevenson's defense being more valuable than Foster's offense.

Obviously, I just don't see how he can come to that conclusion, how many runs does Stevenson save us per 10 games? How many runs does he potentially blow a chance at bringing in?

Because he obviously is willing to sacrifice a little offense for an upgrade on defense.

JaCoby has the fastest 60 time on the team. Next is Laird and then Stevenson.

Exactly. Off the top of your head, can you think of one catch Stevenson has made that McMullen or Foster wouldn't have been able to make ?

I don't know how many he saves, but it isn't about the comparison to how many he blows at bringing in. It is his net, whatever that is, compared to Foster's net.

Yes, 9th inning of the Friday Arkansas game off the top of my head. But it isn't just about running down balls in the gap. Taking good angles on base hits and preventing extra bases also plays a part.

That's what I'm saying. It's not like Foster is batting 250 & Stevenson is batting 225. Foster is batting 354 & Stevenson is batting 191
