Well, in the grand scheme of things, I suppose you are right, but Cal State Fullerton, Coastal Carolina, Fresno State, Kent State, Missouri State, UC Irvine, UC Santa Barbara, Rice, Southern Miss, Stoney Brook, and Tulane have combined for 25 CWS appearances and 4 National Titles since your Cajuns last went to Omaha.

That's 11 teams that are doing at least what ULL has done.

OMG. For the love of all that is good and holy please stop feeding these USL trolls. USL doesn't matter now. We're on to Utah.

About the only two on your list that are comparable to us are USM and CCU. All of the others are either private schools or otherwise have huge budgets, as compared to UL. And I stand by my statements that none of them have had to conquer nearly the obstacles....especially the self-inflicted ones.....that we have had to.

Cajuns, and it's not even close.

Why are you so obsessed with us? I mean as wrong as your earlier post was, it shows that you have an enormous interest in us.

Softball: what a dick you are. All you can do is focus on a coach that left us over 20 years ago? Do you think we are blind to the fact that any of our coaches would be crazy to NOT take a job that has a much larger salary and unlimited budget?

Ok, I have tried to stay out of this shite but I will weigh in here with actual things that I have observed and that aren't just anecdotal.

Yvette Girouard left ULL to come to LSU in 2001. In 2002, LSU softball played in a regional in Lafayette. Regionals were 6 teams back in those days. LSU eliminated ULL on Saturday. On Sunday, LSU and Arizona State played to determine who went to the WCWS. There were a number of ULL fans who showed up with the intent to be as nasty and mean as they could be to Girouard. They openly rooted against LSU and some of the personal things they yelled at her during the entire game were appalling, and even amongst themselves in the stands you could hear the bitter chatter about how she left LSU and "wasn't one of them" anymore.

Up until that day, I never had a problem with ULL. I would root for them to do well and be glad when they did. But that day in 2002 showed me the light in relation to what others had been telling me about ULL. I was shocked that a group of people could turn on a woman who poured her heart and soul into that program, which she literally built from the ground up with her own 2 hands. HOW DARE she move down the interstate to big mean bully LSU, who doubled her salary and assured her that she would never have to drive rental vans to games and mow the grass at the field herself.

That day opened my eyes and nothing has changed 18 years later. The hardcore, diehard ULL fans are a bunch of whiny-arse, "woe is me" little-brother types who just won't go away and who think if they just scream loud enough, then they will be taken seriously.

Yes, your softball program has thrived since Girouard left, but it's laughable and almost ironic that the person who has led them all these years turned out to be the biggest douchebag of them all and completely embodies what people have grown to loathe about ULL, their athletic programs, and their culture.

So to answer your original question, no, I do not think your fans are blind to the fact that your coaches would take jobs in other places that would pay a higher salary, but you frickers sure were bitter about it when LSU was the school that the coach chose.

Did you just really just compare an NIT basketball game with very little ramifications to the the biggest football embarrassment in LSU history?

Give the attached a read.

La. gives less and less every year to colleges via the general fund. Most revenues are self generated (tuition, grants etc). This isn't just a La. thing. In 10 years, I suspect many colleges will dramatically change -- public schools will look more like private schools on their financial statements. This is about as clear a general picture of where $ goes on higher education as I've seen.

1- Does La. have too many schools?
2- Why does public money go to support private universities?
3- Why are 4 year schools part of the same budget as technical schools and 2 year colleges?

Trust me, ULL has an ally in LSU on many of the broader subjects of adequate funding. LSU is not funded properly as a Flagship school. If LSU could get there and ULL improves as part of that broader plan, I'm 100% behind that. Unfortunately, in La. given the current budget, # of schools etc. I just don't see this happening. So, everyone is fighting for a their "share" of an every shrinking pie.

Having so many mouths to feed really causes the overall group to suffer. Get LSU, La Tech and ULL to agree on a different funding plan -- LSU funded as a true Flagship, Tech and ULL funded different (more than) McNeese, Nichols, Southeastern, UNO, ULM, Northwestern and Grambling? See what happens next? And I'm not even bringing Southern into the foray.

Remember when Jindal tried to shut down SUNO and Southern Shreveport? Didn't happen.... Google SUNO financials? They couldn't even complete an audit the damn books were so bad

Athletics is part of the holistic view of any university budget and losing on the athletics side also compounds issue on the academic side.

Well, I agree with you that those actions were unacceptable.

But see my earlier post: those wounds are now healed, and so much so that she was chosen to be on the team that chose Glasco.

So that begs the question: if both of us can move on, why can't you? If you can't then that makes you a petty, whiny little bitch.

Yes, we have too many schools in the state, no debate about that here.....or probablly anywhere else in the state. But yet it never changes.

Were you aiso aware that along with LTU, UL is designated as a 'Statewide' university, with all,the others are 'Regional?'

And if lsu truly were a secure, stable 'big brother' then they would be taking the lead trying to form some kind of alliance with us. With the vast majority of the population in our 2 spheres, we should be working together to be dominant in the state. And for those that can't hang in the south, have one school in the north as an option.

Where did you say anything about being "comparable"? The only qualifier you gave was "non-P5".

And? That has nothing to do with those other programs accomplishing more than the Cajuns. Money didn't buy them CWS appearances.

This

quote:

Baseball: you obviously are unaware of the battle that Robe has faced to face to build our program into what it is today. Not many other nonP5 schools have achieved what we have.....and no one has had more hurdles to cross. Under Ray A. if Robe wanted uniforms he had to pay for them. If he raised money, it was taken away from him. Yet today we have one of the best stadiums in the country, are nationally known as one of the best atmospheres in the NCAA.....and our attendance is routinely in the top ten......also nationally. Get your head out of your arse and learn the WHOLE story before you try to make your case. Football: see above for much of the same struggles that we faced with the former admin. Have you been under a rock....or have you not heard about how we got rid of our last coach? And that he has been replaced with one of the nation's best newcomers? Did you know that both Saban and Dabo took the time to call our AD to recommend him for the job? And that we are paying him the second highest salary in the G5? And that we expect results from that salary? And where do you think the money came from for that salary? It came from the RCAF and other private donors. Basketball: are we disappointed that it ended the way that it did? You bet. Will we continue to build on our success? Again, you bet on it. We have a great facility that recently underwent a $20 million renovation....paid for by the city. Why don't you compare our attendance with other G5's or anyone else for that matter? Guess that wouldn't fit into your hateful rant. Softball: what a dick you are. All you can do is focus on a coach that left us over 20 years ago? Do you think we are blind to the fact that any of our coaches would be crazy to NOT take a job that has a much larger salary and unlimited budget? And funny how your little hate-parade narrative leaves off on Yvette, and fails to mention the continued success and growth that we had in that program.....or that she was on the team to select our newest head coach. Nah, no one would get anything positive about us from your little petty tirade. Enrollment: at just under 20K we are currently at the goal we had set, and the max we can handle on a campus of only ~125 acres. Logistically we cannot handle much more than the current numbers, without doing some substantial additions to our faculty/staff, facilities, etc. We are working on growing the physical footprint of the main campus by trying to purchase the former OLOL property....but as you so like to point out we certainly cannot count on that from the state....especially when they are throwing so much of our money to lsu....and basically have NOTHING TO SHOW FOR IT. Funny how you also fail to mention the new AD we hired, and how he is finally following the master plan that was done a couple of years ago. Or the FACT that we now have a president and admin that are not only supporters of academics, but also now understand and support our athletic programs. Have we achieved all the goals, or are we anywhere where we should be? Surely not.....and we are the first to realize that. But don't think for a fricking minute that we will quit trying. No one else does, so why should we???? And we are the only state school that has the population and passionate fan base that can support growth....just because you refuse to accept that FACT, won't change it. And if you think that when we eventually and consistently produce better products on the field that that support won't grow, you are delusional. But maybe you already do know that FACT and that's what is fueling your obsessive fear about us. We may have a 'big brother' but we are ashamed to say that he has a teeny-tiny little penis.....which he has been so willing to show us all week with all of these stupid UL threads.
