Look, hitting is a thing where more times than not, you will fail. Sometimes... all those failures are going to line up behind each other. That won't happen always.

It's got to be insanely frustrating for our coaches to see these pitchers (minus Skenes) to go out there and by so inconsistent from game to game.

Take Little.

Game 3 vs KY - 3.1 innings, 0 runs, 1 hit, 3 walks
Game 3 vs Ole Miss - 5.1 innings, 3 runs, 6 hits, 1 walk
Game 3 vs Bama - 3.1 innings, 3 runs, 2 hits, 5 walks, 1 hit batter

The first two games were very serviceable outings for a Sunday starter. The third game wasn't spectacular but he got out of it ok.

Then yesterday was just awful.

The reality is, with the remaining non-injured staff we have, no one is really consistently dependable. Sometimes we will get good pitching, sometimes we will get not so good pitching.

And for the coaches... we don't seem to know what we will get from anyone until they are on the mound.

This staff, when it is good, is good enough to win in Omaha. When it's not, it's bad enough to lose in a Super. Who knows what we will get the rest of the way.

I really thought we were turning the corner with the pitching at about 8:30pm Saturday night.

Cruel and unusual punishment is expressly constitutionally forbidden, for the record.

Until that balk call I think we all thought we were turning the corner. After that balk everything came crashing down. I will say though if Floyd can stay a little more mentally tough going forward he will be fine.

We did, but as soon as we turned the corner, the Auburn coach / umpires slammed the brakes on their car, and we never saw it, slamming right into the back of it.

Front end of our car is all jacked up and leaking oil, while their car had a bumper scratch and drove off.

I still think under normal circumstances he's gotten mentally tougher. He was getting hosed on calls in the first 3 innings and laughing it off and striking a guy out on the next pitch.

The 4th inning was unusually bad and seemed to be designed by the umpire to throw him off. I think the umpire is a piece of shite human who felt like LSU showed him up in the previous inning and decided to exact his revenge.

He's done it before with other teams. He's a bad umpire and a bad person.

Floyd constantly has the body language of someone who is being asked to do soemthing they don't want to do. Even when he's dealing... he looks like he is strugging inside.

Maybe one of the batgirls can give him a blowie for every 1-2-3 inning he has. Something to excite the young man.

That umpire is for sure a terrible umpire. Made me cringe when the Auburn Catcher shook his hand after the game when Morgan struck out. Idk what it is about SEC officials and umpires but they are dog shite.

But again that is something Floyd needs to be tougher about. But I do agree he did laugh off a few missed strike calls in the first 3 innings. But I feel better about the pitching staff than most because I don't see Floyd as an issue.

The Achilles heal of what otherwise is a dominant team…walks and HBPs. The most basic truth in baseball. Starts with Pitchers who throw strikes. I’ve seen less walks going too. LL game.

Nope. The guy is a piece of shite.

Heston Kjerstad ejection
quote:

"The problem with the call is that the call was really late. It was almost ridiculously late. If it’s all in the same rhythm and the way he’s been calling it the whole game - not a problem....But the way that was, it was almost like he had to talk himself into making that call, and that’s not the way you umpire."

Scott Forbes ejection/suspension
quote:

Forbes was tossed by home plate umpire Jeff Henrichs after arguing a no-call in the third inning of the Chapel Hill Regional game at Boshamer Stadium. First base umpire John Brammer, the crew chief, then intercepted the objecting Forbes and appeared to signal Forbes’ suspension with a raised hand and two fingers as they had an animated exchange.

“It is incredibly disappointing to have the NCAA confirm a two-game suspension for our head baseball coach, yet have no explanation for the call that ultimately led to the suspension,” UNC athletics director Bubba Cunningham wrote late Saturday night in a Twitter post. “We must do better for our student-athletes and teams.”

There are several other instances of him fricking up a call and then throwing out a coach or player. He's a small person.

If you can’t see his body language on the mound then maybe you should put down the natty light and consult in Dugas eye doctor

I honestly think that’s the ceiling for this team. Floyd is good enough to beat a 4-seed in a Regional, and Skenes the 2-seed. Then the bats will take care of anyone’s 4th/5th pitcher. But after Skenes throws in a Super, I don’t see us winning one of the other two. Teams will throw off Game 1 like Auburn did, leaving us to face their ace Game 2, meaning we have to throw our shitastic grab bag Game 3.
Baby steps. Lose a Regional last year. Lose a Super this year. Maybe Omaha next year, if we can get and keep arms healthy and reload the roster. But we are about to waste having the best pitcher and the best hitter in college baseball due to our weak staff.

If you can't read then you have bigger issues. I already spoke about Floyd's mental toughness needing to be better which includes his body language. But again Floyd through the first 3 innings was laughing and striking guys out. Don't exaggerate to try to paint a narrative that fits your agenda.

At this point in the season our pitching should be better. Is development even a thing in college pitching?
Cause if it is, we ain't seeing it from a handful of our pitchers on a regular basis. What does this say about our coaching staff?

Maybe all the guys we really focused on developing got hurt and we’re having to refocus/depend on guys we weren’t expecting to mid-season.
