just did a little ciphering, ball park figures, mind you:

between the Fed IRS, La IRS, and Uberstein, O paid just under eight million before he ever put a shrimp smelling finger on the seventeen million dollar payoff

ETA: not to mention attorney fees, for both parties more than likely

Then it seemed like very abruptly in the offseason they're divorced and photos of him naked in bed with that blonde start circulating. I've heard some people say Kelly started doing drugs or something but not sure how true that is.

I heard the pain killer rumor too, due to back problems. I also heard she was scissoring a neighbor rumor before the pain killer rumor.

Still legally married, so yes. Still have $8 million? Probably not, that blonde likely snatched it up.

Question: if the taxes have been paid on it already, will O still have to pay the full $8 mil to Kelly? That's kinda fricked if he pays $8 mil in taxes for the full $17 mil and then has to pay the full $8 mil to Kelly. Would Kelly then have to pay taxes on the $8 mil, essentially double taxing it?

don't know about La law, but in some states yes, he owes her the gross amount

in Florida, at least at the time of my divorce he would

ETA: I think if it is classified as income he may not owe the gross amount and she would have the taxes already paid deducted(50%) of her portion of the $17million

This seems like an overlooked aspect. He funneled all his revenue through that LLC which the wife presumably owned half.

O didn’t negotiate a buyout, the Rosy Finch Boyz, LLC. negotiated it.

don't know much about that one but didn't she marry one of the hired help and she had everything and he had nothing? if so, she probably got off paying peanuts

That would leave him with essentially nothing out of that buyout. Wow that's unbelievably fricked if that's how it's going to play out. And people wonder why marriage rates have declined so much over the years.

OK this at least makes a little more logical sense.

when it comes to family court the judges almost unilaterally side with the woman, and the bigger the deadbeat she is, the better the ruling

It was a pretty big judgment. It was based on a rather interesting interpretation of liability (on a statute that had just changed). The client was the State of Louisiana. There was no one else to appeal to.
Dealing with something similar right now. Luckily, we're still at the district level, so there are plenty of people to appeal to

Hopefully the Golden Nugget in LC revised their 2025 forecast to account for this happening as Ed is expected to spend much less there now that this is final

Alimony isn’t taxable anymore to the recipient so no she wouldn’t

Alimony is also non-dischargable in bankruptcy so Ed may have to start liquidating some assets. No way he has that in the bank anymore
