i would say what i said 10 times out of 10 over again, so im not going to eat crow.

i was shocked he got that hit. A fastball would have finished him.

not to mention reading a newspaper article earlier in the year where Mahtook himself said he has been overwhelmed with the pressure at times.

This thread is exactly why I am 100% confident that we will win tonight. Lester Earl thinks it's a bad idea to start Ross over Ranaudo. He clearly knows his stuff.

It looks bad now, but I don't think anybody would have disagreed with the call after his first three at-bats and then the cramps in the field. He came up big when it counted, but even his last two at-bats weren't great, but he battled through it and came up big. I'll be glad to be proven wrong like this anyday.

Hey at least you stand by your statements. You don't waffle. Now of course you are a complete idiot but at least you don't waffle.

to Lester's defense, Mahtook had a pretty terrible night before the clutch hit. Had he produced at his previous 4 at-bats maybe we wouldn't have been in the situation requiring a comeback.

If the first 3/5 of the game were all that mattered then LSU wouldn't be nearly as successful as it has been in baseball (or football for that matter).
But benching your everyday center fielder who is hitting over .300 in Omaha for a guy who has seen limited action makes perfect sense. As you mentioned, he had 3 bad at-bats. He should have been benched! It's not like we're playing great baseball and in the middle of some long winning streak or anything. 3 at bats was definitely a reason to panic.

lsuguy13 is Mahtook's friend and he just said himself Mahtook was shitting himself.

he had K'd 3 times and the hit he had was pure luck.

Im glad he came through though. I think he will be more comfortable tonight.

I can guarantee you that everyone of them out there has some nerves. It's about you respond to the nerves. Some people play better with a little bit of nerves.

Don't defend Lester, he's a douche who will deflect bullshite after he's proven wrong. Now had he said replace Helinihi or Ochinko with Landry and shifted the D, I might agree.

So, were both of hits "pure luck"? Lucky guy hit .333 on the night.

So 3 k's in one game negates what he's done all season? And it isn't exactly like he had been stinking it up in Omaha. He was hitting somewhere around .350 in the CWS as well.

I stand by the statement, I don't think it would have been a bad move to bring in Landry, who by the way had a couple of good at-bats when he did come into the game. Look Mahtook was lost at the plate and he started cramping up, PM made a great call and I'm not critical of it, but it would not have been stupid to put in Landry at that point.

To imply that it was a dumb suggestion is really showing a lack of baseball knowledge. I was simply making an observation at that point in the game.

Suggesting that a guy might be lifted after 3 horrible at-bats (not just K's, but embarrassing K's) and then was cramping in 98 degree temps does not make me look stupid.

so Landry cannot play CF?

what would you have to switch?

it would be a clean switch

not to mention he pinch ran Landry instead of someone like McGhee where Landry would have pinch hit when they brought in the righty.
