Kyle Peterson

I know some LSU fans do not like Peterson, but I really enjoy his commentary. He is seems particularly knowledgeable on pitching strategies and, I think, does a great job explaining pitches and predicting what pitches will be thrown next and should be thrown next. He would make a good pitching coach if that’s a way he wanted to go.
It also seems to me that overall, over the years, he has been very complimentary of LSU baseball and appreciative of how much fan support LSU gets. LSU gets on tv more than most teams and, as a consequence, Peterson seems more knowledgeable about a lot of our individual players. I liked his comment yesterday that some regional host was not going to be happy when they see LSU as a three seed in their regional.
I actually like Ben McDonald too. Like Peterson, he communicates pitching strategy well. I coached a good bit of little league with my boys growing up, and listening to Peterson and Mcdonald discuss pitch sequencing selection reminds me how rudimentary my understanding of pitch selection was. I have learned a lot since then watching Peterson and McDonald. I also learned a lot watching Barry Manuel call pitches when he coached one of my boys.
Pitching and hitting is such a cat and mouse game. A pitching coach who studies batter’s tendencies and calls the right sequence of pitches can do wonders for a pitchers era. Peterson’s commentary adds to the game for me, he goes into the intricacy of pitch selection I would not pick up on my own.

They stopped the best part about Kyle Peterson doing our games which was when they flashed back to us lighting him up

Thanks, Kyle. We appreciate your continuing support of LSU baseball.
And you do seem knowledgable at times.
ETA: Im joking. I actually think they do a pretty good job also.

They're both great for college baseball.

Most really enjoy KP because he does a great job and likes LSU.
I hope we get a game one day with both he and McDonald in the booth.

KP is very knowledgeable about college baseball. If you don't think so, just ask him....

I think KP does a fantastic job, and he has done a lot for college baseball broadcasting. I remember when it was nearly impossible to see a Super Regional. Less than 10 years ago you could only see the Supers that ESPN2 and ESPNU carried. Typically got all but 2-3 of the Supers.
People love to hate on ESPN, but they have single handedly brought college baseball to everyone's home. Especially those outside of traditional hotbeds like Louisiana (with CST/Jumbo) or Texas (FoxSports Directional).

The best part about Carl Patterson is the mute button.

Kyle Peterson is much better than Chris Burke. He sits down and spins on Florida and Arkansas nuts.

I'm not really sure how you couldn't like Kyle Peterson.

It seemed to me the announcers were all up the Hog's arse. Every inning they talked about the Hog's HR power and the best offense in the SEC. Seems like they were anticipating, if not rooting for, a Hog victory. Maybe they were hedging their bets in case there was a comeback. Yes, they talked about LSU but mostly about Arkansas.

He pretty much calls it as it is, and some fans don’t like to hear critical things about their team.
It’s intersting some thought his call yesterday favored Arkansas. I thought his commentary was balanced, if anything, more pro LSU. In particular he was very high on Hess, Duplantis and the LSU fan with the faux radar gun. Lol

KP is the best. The people that think he hates LSU think that everyone hates LSU.

They talked about it from the standpoint of how dominant Hess and then Bush were. Get it together people.

Yes, they did give credit towards the end but midgame acted as if the Hogs were much superior. They probably have a better team but lost 3/4 to the Tigers. Van Horn is a heck of a coach and I like him but Paul is in his and, I guess now, the players head. From pitching to fielding a just enough offense, What a win!
