was able to attend thurs practice and yesterdays scrimmage...For starters Kragthorpe is just what JJ needs..has technically improved Jordan in every aspect--footwork,release,simplifying reads,etc..he looks as comfortable as he has since he left Destrehan..quicker release, tighter spiral, you name it, its improved..he also said he is able to communicate with SK about reads, audibles, etc like he was never able to w GCrowton..and this, more than anything, may be the most important aspect as his confidence is sky high..Lee worked mostly with 2nd offense and Mett in clean up roll(he is a big kid,has a cannon, but a long delivery and decent footwork and in my opinion will be very good under SK's tutelage but not any time soon)..As for other positions, O-Line is very good, Davenport will be REAL GOOD move in time..RB playing time will be a battle and they are legitimately all SEC caliber(Hilliard not practicing)..Wide Rec third spot a battle between Boone and Wright, with RR and Shep locked in at first two wr spots..Didnt see a lot of defense at practicie except during team periods but D-Line is ridiculously loaded at every position, as is the secondary, but at LBer no player stood out but that is to be expected as it seems coaches are rotating a few guys trying to get right mix...

Even though I appreciate the update and the observations of practices you are about to get a bunch of posts from the unintelligent rantards on the board that hate anything positive said about JJ.

No doubt beefense5, but thats what makes this board what it is...the kids been bashed since he's been at LSU (some of it his fault of course) but it took me less than 5 minutes to see the impact Kragthorpe has had on his mechanics and confidence...

maybe I can head them off at the pass...

- Same old Miles crap, trying to prop up JJ
- There was never going to be a competition
- Seniority
- JJ always looks great in the spring
- Get JJ's sack out of your mouth
- Great, if you like offense ranked in the 100's
- First Jimbo, the Crowton, now Craigthorpe

Good post. However, I have to wonder how JJ will perform when "live bullets" start flying. Not saying he'll crack, just that when you start changing a QB's mechanics, a lot of times when under stress they revert to their old ways. We'll see.

On the other hand, teaching him to read D's is nothing but positive. Hopefully he'll be able to audible out of negative plays and go through his progressions more efficiently on pass plays (i.e. something more than "if the first guy isn't open, run").

Actually lsu's offense was pretty damn good under jimbo, then regressed under crowton, and is well on the way to being much imroved under "Craig"thorpe..

JJ doesn't even have to improve over where he left off last year for Craig to get credit for improving him. JJ was horrid last year until towards the end of the season. That is what sticks in everyone's mind.

Thanks for the effort, but you can't hold the rantards down for long, they will make several threads about the same topics you named over & over again until the season starts & beyond...

We have to see how he does in a game setting.

But getting rid of Gary Crowton has worked wonders for other underperforming QBs, so hopefully we'll get similar results.
