vs. Lafayette Christian Jada Richard

These are comments after her defensive performance from her Head Coach. Coach Chaney has played on 4 Final Four teams at LSU, was drafted in the WNBA, played overseas professionally and she calls Kori (my granddaughter) the best defensive player she's EVER seen.

Kori shut down Jada and held her to only 6 points doing their game. Kori has been touted as the best defensive player in the State amongst high school girls.

There are mentions of Jada Richard and Lafayette Christian and Kori Wesley and Southern Lab in these team ranking capsules. https://highschool.si.com/louisiana/2024/01/20/louisiana-high-school-girls-basketball-top-25-rankings-1-20-2024

Thanks Clean.
Kori’s game is expanding on the offensive side. She affects the game on Both ends of the court.

Jada is an excellent player so if Kori shut her down, she must be really good as well. Jada may have had an off night (and maybe not, I do not know) but even still, a 6-point game from Jada means Kori Wesley is an excellent defender, to say the least.

You must be a very proud grandpa.

I think her grandfather posted a thread about her not long ago. Impressive young player, who I believe is only in 8th grade if I remember correctly

ETA: just realized OP is the grandfather. Congrats to your family. Hope she continues to grow as a player

Jada is definitely an excellent offensive player and just as she is on offense, Kori is just as excellent on the defensive side of the ball right now. It’s not a coincidence that every PG she’s faced so far has had their worst offensive game.

Best of luck to her

Jada dropped 31 last night in limited minutes against an athletic Northwood team

Soon to be 4 time state champion
4 time state mvp

LCA is missing a sophomore forward that already holds D1 offers Kayliah Samuels.

They’ll be a load to handle in the playoffs with or without her

Kori definitely love LSU and the LSU players gravitated to her doing Coach Mulkey camp. She is drawing interest from some of the big time programs including USCe.

Does she have any offers?

Lester
She doesn’t have any offers just yet but the interest is there from major colleges. Southern Lab played at a National Event this past fall and Kori guarded one of the best players in America. The coaches there thought she was a Jr or Sr.

The comment from several Coaches in attendance was “it wasn’t WHAT she did, it was about WHO she did it against. She will rise up the rankings nationally if she keeps performing and progressing on schedule.

Southern Lab has really turned it on, following up the Lafayette Christian win with W's over Wossman and Carencro. Some people might not be aware that Southern Lab is a Class 1A program beating Wossman and a Class 5A/Div. I select school in Carencro.

I enjoyed the LCA broadcast of Southern Lab vs. LCA. The KIttens' gym is a hostile environment for the visiting team.

Good to hear. Hopefully I can catch a Southern Lab game at the Top 28. The streaming is good, but it's no substitute for in-person viewing.

Exactly Clean
Kori and her teammates are playing and BEATING the best. Last night they beat a very good Ponchatoula team. They were down 11 going into the 4th and Kori led their comeback by hitting 4 straight 3 pointers to take a lead they never relinquished.

I will use that in the next article later this week. Thanks for the info.

On a side note, I’m big on ssome of the small schools from SWLA and Cenla and, of course, Southern Lab and JS Clark.

I watched Oak Hill vs JS Clark and covered Fairview vs Hathaway last season.

Those small schools can compete with tbe large schools on any given night.

I only had seven select schools in my last Top 25 and three were No. 17-25. The No. 1 team right now IMO is a public school.
