I know lots of people who aren’t LSU fans who know who Jared Mitchell is…. what.

Really - I guess I would ask you to define "lots". Because I would be willing to bet if I asked 10 folks I know who are not LSU fans but are general sports fans who he is - I might expect 1 or 2 to know.......maybe.

I was raised an LSU fan but didn’t go to LSU or even an SEC school and most of my college buddies can tell you who Jared is. Many of them actually thought he was a better natural football player than baseball.

Yeah I get Jared was a 1st round pick, but it's not like he's been on the media constantly such as Skenes, Bregman, or even Nola. Probably could've replaced Jared with Anthony Ranaudo there and Kirby would still be clueless who he was.

Jared is not a household name

He is well-known among Tiger fans; you even referred to him as "Jared" instead of Jared Mitchell. I doubt Kirby knows most of the LSU baseball players, and I personally believe he doesn't care much about players from an opposing team.

Some of these coaches eat, sleep, shite, and process football to the point where they can’t keep up with their own kids. It’s understandable why someone in his position wouldn’t know that Mitchell was on a CWS team.

I think people forget that Kirby was on Saban’s staff when Saban heavily recruited Jared. Kirby knows Jared, he likely forgot he played baseball.

During the 2009 Regionals I was in a near empty Alex Box watching Minnesota vs. Baylor and looked one row behind me and Jared was just chilling by himself watching the game. Spoke to him for a while he was very nice

The point I am making is simple: coaches at the highest levels of sports, like Kirby, typically have background information on the people interviewing them. That’s part of the preparation process.

Whether through technology or traditional methods, a coach’s PR staff, sports information department, or athletic staff usually provides key details about the interviewer beforehand. I am trying to tell you guys something about the interviewing process for coaches. This is not a guess.

That’s why it’s reasonable to believe Kirby knew Jared’s background at LSU, including his role as a national champion in baseball, even if he chose not to mention it. He knew.

Anyone in sports or media understands that this type of preparation happens every day. Reporters do their homework, and coaches have people doing theirs. It doesn’t matter whether the interviewer is new or experienced.

Bottom line: preparation and information sharing are standard in sports interviews. That’s the point I was making.

Again, he knew that Jared play in the College Baseball World Series before he sat down in that interview based on his intel. Jared was a Champion.

I am saying years ago but before the interview.

You guys are giving lying A@@ Kirby too much credit. He slighted Jared.

But you are willing to absorb all the BS people say about Coach Kiffin.

Funny enough my mom was with me and she walked up while I was talking to Jared. She goes full airhead mode and says “who are you? Do you play any sports for LSU or something?”

Actually it's a compliment if she asked using the present tense. Means he's aging very well.

you have problems admitting that you're wrong. I could give you details on every LSU player regarding football since 1980 but I'm just not that into baseball. I knew Mitchell played football and baseball but couldn't tell you what he did in baseball at LSU.

You are basing this on what exactly?

Not to mention, Kirby was on Saban’s staff when Saban heavily recruited Jared for football in 04. Granted that was a long time ago, but he was a big priority for them.

How so? Jared graduated from Westgate in 2006.
