With the way our administrative culture works it wouldnt surprise me if alleva hired her followed by a lawsuit for seeing penis in the locker room.

We'd be able to bounce pass and layup with the best of them.

KM is definitely tough enough and capable to one day coach in Men's Hoops.

Glad she would like to come back and coach in her home state! And glad she wants to coach at LSU. But the men’s BB Coach?
Nope!!!!!
Nope!!!!!

Because I'm not keen on a woman telling me how to play a physical sport, and yelling at me. It's something I expect from a man, if I'm being coached. Having the weaker sex trying push me around is just not something I think I'd respond well to. I wouldn't be disrespectful about it, but it would feel like a gimmick the whole time.
The funny thing is this level of ignorance is disrespectful in itself.
I can’t even Imagine being this insecure. Do you feel this way about every day jobs as well?

She is one heck of a coach.
I like the notion.

She would do better than Jones or Johnson!!

I'm not into this whole idea of trying to pretend that men and women are equals. Equally important, yes. Equally capable of making an impact, yes. But are we the same? No. We are created differently for a reason.
That said, I have no doubt that Mulkey could handle the job from an x's and o's standpoint. You don't have to be a man to understand a sport. But do I think it would be a good idea? I doubt it. Why? Because not too many young men would likely be very keen on the idea of having a woman telling them what to do. It has worked with men coaching women, but men are PHYSICALLY superior to women, whether some people are willing to accept that or not. So it would probably be very awkward.
I hope we keep Wade, and don't have to talk about replacements. But if LSU fires Wade, I wouldn't have an objection to Kim Mulkey the basketball coach. I'd object to the idea that we can pretend she'd be able to recruit boys to play for her.
You hit the nail on the head and this is all that needs to be said.

It takes an insecure person to be unable to speak his mind without fear of what jerks like yourself have to say. You should look up the definition of ignorance sometime. You'll find that it does not apply in this context, in the least.
The weaker sex trying to push around the other is frankly out of place. That some women are put in that position is a direct result of the PC culture of our time. I'm all for women having the right to work, vote, run for office, whatever, so long as they are qualified, just as anyone else. But talking down to me, in that type of setting? Sorry, until you've played against men, you really don't have any place trying to get in their faces.
I know she's smart and and can handle x's and o's, as I said before. But it takes a really naive person to think that it would be a perfectly normal thing that the boys would accept with no feelings of awkwardness. It's just a natural thing. I don't have a problem with a female boss. After all, we all take orders from our mothers, as well as our fathers when we're growing up. That's a lot different than having a woman trying to act like my dad.

If we absolutely have to find a new coach then I could think of a lot worse than Kim Mulkey.
That being said Will motherfricking Wade is my coach

Jerks like myself? I’m not the one advocating against a human being having a job because of their gender. I’d say you’re the jerk.
“I'm all for women having the right to work, vote, run for office, whatever, so long as they are qualified, just as anyone else.”
THIS IS IGNORANCE. The fact that you have this really confusing qualifier before you voice an opinion that because you’re a man and you’d be uncomfortable with it therefore it shouldn’t be allowed, shows that you don’t even understand how you’re being offensive. That’s ignorance. Do I want a women football coach? If she has played linebacker and knows fundamentals at even a high school level I’d say that’s enough. I’ve had men coach me that don’t know their a-hole from their elbow and I can tell you I’d much rather someone that knows how to win. Woman, man, transsexual, I don’t care. If a woman has competitively played and coached basketball and has proven she is a winner, that’s someone I’ll get behind 100%
Because that’s the way it is in your head means that’s the way it is in everyone else’s as well. And that’s not the case. That’s also an example of ignorance.
Edit to add - She wouldn’t be “acting like your dad”. She would be coaching a goddamn sport.

It's too bad that you get your feelings hurt so easily. And it's also too bad that you don't know the difference between me saying a woman "shouldn't have" a certain job and me saying "it wouldn't work, and I wouldn't be comfortable with it".
I also didn't say that everyone thinks like me. I know full well that there are social justice warriors like you out there. But you are in the minority, whether you realize it or not. Men and women don't mix together in athletics very well. And heaven forbid a man ever tackled a woman in a football game, he'd probably be sued for sexual harassment. This is the reality men face. We have to walk on egg shells around women. So, you want to put a woman in front of me to scream in my face? I don't think so.
Having a woman give me a set of tasks to do, in a normal job? No problem. Try to push me around in an athletic setting? No thanks.
You've had men coach you who don't know what they're doing? Fantastic. Did I say I wanted a terrible coach? Of course not. I'd take pointers from someone like Kim Mulkey. I'd talk strategy with her. But the other stuff is out of place.
Maybe not for you. You're not me. You wanna ask other guys what they think? And I don't mean your inner circle of friends, I mean go ask around. I'm not in the minority, and if you're offended by my comments, that's your own problem. I can't hold a door open for a woman, without running the risk that she'll be offended that I somehow made it seem like she can't open the door herself.
So pardon me if I don't much care about what offends people these days.

Oh my god burn this whole fricking thread to the ground. Most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard. Not making judgement on her ability as a basketball coach at all.
It’s just so far beyond realistic that 18 year old alpha males are going to respond to a woman as their coach. Well, they would never come in the first place, so I guess it would be a moot point.
Remember, in the words of Joe Alleva-“it’s not all about winning”. I have no doubts the incompetence of this administration could lead to something like this
