Baker is a lock to be tulane’s next coach
heard from some podcast yesterday that the thought is that Tulane doesn't want a guy who hasn't had head coach experience. Remember Tulane hired Willie Fritz after his accomplishments at Sam Houston St and Georgia Southern. They hired Sumrall after his accomplishments at Troy. I believe they are going to do what has made them successful, and hire a head coach from a smaller school than them. More than likely a southern school. Im thinking of a guy tlike Charles Huff. Or, looking for offense, they could just go after WKU Helton.

He would take a pay cut…

He would make more at Tulane. 500k to 1 mil more. Plus it would be a longer contract with a buyout if he is fired.

He’s not keeping baker. Probably watched for the last 2 years we can’t stop a running quarterback.

Every time we fire a HC people always want to handcufff the new coach with a staff holdover. Why? If we are going to pay someone $10M a year they should be able to hire who they want.

If you don’t trust them then don’t hire them.

Yes. Look at Perkins there, he is constantly fooled to go too far to one side. Most of the big plays against running QBs has this same theme.

Remember the "double spy" play where both LBs ended up on the same side?

For as athletic as Perkins is, it is so easy to get him out of position.

I listen to the College Football Enquirer podcast with Andy Staples, Ross Dellenger and Steven Godfrey on my commute, and Godfrey (who graduated from Ole Miss) says he's hearing there is a fissure with Ole Miss' current staff; some are ready to follow Kiffin to LSU (or elsewhere) and some want to focus on the playoff drive. It will be interesting to see; maybe Goulding wants to stay behind for the playoff run, so Baker would be more likely in that instance? I also wonder which camp Charlie Weis, Jr. might be in.

It's going to be so interesting to see how this shakes out...

Regarding this “running qb” issue-
Much of that falls on Harold Perkins and his inability to be where he is supposed to be. Despite his immense physical talent his football mentality is on the lower end of the scale, especially for someone who has had as many repetitions as he has.
