LSU was 97th.

But NO... clearly the lack of a passing attack is what's costing LSU any chance at winning the SEC. If only we'd fire Crowton and start JLee, we'd be absolutely friggin awesome. The running game is irrelevant.

Clearly, that's IT! That must be IT!

Whereas, Bama finished 12th in Rushing Offense and LSU finished 90th. But I'm sure running for 215 yards a game had nothing to do with Bama's success. It must have been the superstellar 187 passing yards per game that Bama threw for that made 14-0 possible.

And the other 13 teams they beat with the best passing attack the SEC has ever seen.

You HAVE to have the threat of a vertical passing game. This open up the running game and play action. Which is what Bama has done for 2 years.

Is our oline and RBs anything like Bama had last year?

In the absence of such a dominating run game, some passing may be required.

Funny, I don't see any threads on the rant dedicated to bashing our lack of a great O Line and dominating running game.

Because it's the strength of our offense. Do you not see that?

You are bringing down the IQ on this board, and that's pretty fricking hard to do.

because there isn't an option to make a substitution and have an increase in the quality of play in those positions, but there is one at QB

obviously if there were better RBs and Olinemen riding the bench and scrubs in their places then the rant would bitch about it

So do you think our running game is good enough? I don't. By your own concession, we don't come close to having a championship caliber run game. Everybody wants to blame JJ and Crowton for the lack of red zone offense, but I think if we had a better O line and running backs we might have picked up a few more first downs and changed some of those FGs to TDs. A great run game makes the QB's life a hell of lot easier. Which is why Bama went 14-0 last year.

Sad day that we are now trying to compare ourselves to Bama. :(

Agreed.

But it's so much more fun to put all your hopes and dreams in the Great White Hope than it is to admit our run game is mediocre to slightly above average at best. That is, when they don't fumble the ball.

When it comes down to it, maybe the reason the coaches stick with JJ is because they need a QB that can run the ball just to make our run game more of a threat. Some days I really miss Herb Tyler...

And how many 3 and outs did they get? What's their overall offensive ranking compared to ours?

Bama can afford to be so slanted because they have proven players who can carry the offense on their backs and run with it. You might have heard of one.....I think he won some trophy....

LSU's running backs are decent....but we haven't proved that we can do that. And all indications are the the answer is no

And Florida was 10th in rushing offense while only 41st in passing offense.

And how many damn people post stupid crap like "If only we had a championship caliber QB, we'd win it all this year"? bullshite. If we had a championship caliber running game, then maybe we'd be able to compete for a championship. We do not. We have the O-Line and the running game we have. Sure, they're improving but it remains to be seen whether LSU can run the ball against tougher defenses. But this much is certain: Bama and Florida won their respective SEC divisions last year in large part because they ran the ball well. I don't care who the QB is. But without a better running game, it really doesn't matter.
