Bradie James. He is making more of an impact than Sheppard.

Nobody ever gives any love to Perry Riley.

his has a list of all of Bradie James stats and accomplishments. If Minter beats that, he will be the best to come out of LSU.

Minter is not at Brooks' level yet.
There have been some very good linebackers at LSU over the years. It is hard to compare guys like Minter, in the current defensive scheme to the guys in LSU's 3-4 defense of the 80's. The current crop of guys are really light, fast to the ball.
Guys like Brooks and Dubroc were a different style of backer: not as nimble, but much more powerful.

Minter is bigger than Brooks, based on listed weights.

Not sure the listings are that reliable, but I watched both in person. Minter seems a lot lighter.

The younger posters never got to see Brooks. It's a damn shame. Before the knee injury, he was an LT-ish beast. A great era of SEC linebackers - Brooks, Cornelious Bennett, Wilbur Marshall. Brooks still one of my all time favorite Tigers.

I didn't get to watch Brooks, so I'll take your word for it.
Minter slimmed up this year, so he's probably lighter than the 245 or whatever they list him at.
They also have him at 6'2, but he looks like he's 5'11.

they also never got to see Gabe Northern - still the best D-Lineman we've had in a quarter century

Brooks was amazing...but my point wasn't that Minter isn't any good, or that he is too skinny.
The 4-3 calls for a different sort of backer than the 3-4. In the 3-4, the backers tend to be bigger, nastier, and since there are four of them, they don't have to be as nimble.
Best LSU lineman ever - Booger!

Minter is above Sheppard and Bradie James at this stage in his LSU career. If he continues his level of production he is a certain No# 1 choice in the NFL. He will be a Pro Bowl caliber player in the NFL if he continues his meteoric rise. Although he is smaller, his potential going into the NFl reminds me of former Tiger Eric Hill!
