re: Kelly’s “very open” QB competition is almost here and is expected to be very competitive

All the other quarterbacks have multiple years left. Brennan is the only one on his last year of eligibility and would be gone by now if he either didn’t have the node or wasn’t the favorite with the staff. The players know a lot more than we do about what going on.

How does Nuss have the “it” factor? He didn’t play well against Arkansas or Alabama

It was Jones and Lyons young buck.

Not used to a coach playing it close to the vest. Relax!

For all intents and purposes the outcome of the QB competition is already known and it wasn't that close. It will be announced about one to two weeks in fall camp.

Since recommitting back to LSU after no one in the portal wanted him, what exactly has Brennan done to separate himself from his competition?
Did he win all 15 spring practices and was he the best performer in the spring game? No, by all accounts Nussmeier was the best and most consistent QB throughout the 15 spring practices and in the spring game, Nussmeier blew away his competition.

Why would anyone have a favorite
It's not about playing a favorite to me. It's only about naming the best QB on the team the starter, and if anyone half way paid attention since the spring, then the impending starter is already very obvious.

You want it to be Nuss. It won't be Nuss, at least not initially. I expect Brennan to start and Daniels to mix in on RPOs/short yardage. Kelly has a history of playing 2 QBs.
Since recommitting back to LSU after no one wanted him in the transfer portal, what exactly has Myles done in you mind that shows he won the QB competition?
I mean, by all accounts Nussmeier was the best and most consistent QB throughout all 15 spring practices, and at the same time he also threw far less interceptions relative to his competition as well. Meanwhile, Nussmeier blew is QB competition away in the spring game.
Moreover, why would you advocate employing a QB who only completed a measly three passes in the spring game in the RPO offense? Do you hate LSU? I mean, to even use Daniels in passing situations would be criminal.

We’ve seen a lot of Brennan. Burrow was a mentor. There is no way we don’t test him out of the gates. No way.
Really, no way? Even though by all accounts he was soundly beaten out in all 15 spring practices and in the spring game by Garrett Nussmeier?
So the QB competition was just a fun exercise and a meaningless game in your expert opinion.

ot always. Once upon a time...
Uhm...even when Joe Burrow was completing 78 percent of his passes while blowing all the competition away, there was still a large contingent of Myles Brennan homers claiming that Brennan had a better arm than Joe Burrow.,

You're right. Which is why Kayshon Boutte who has seen all the QBs play since forever has come out publicly to say Nussmeier should be named the starter because he will win the most games for LSU and maybe even another championship if lucky. He also said he likes everything about Nussmeier because he does everything the best.

Actually, for just a true freshman still wet behind the ears, he played well enough to win the Arkansas game. In fact, the only reason why LSU was even in that game to the very end, in the first place, was because of Nussmeier after Max Johnson was pulled for holding onto the ball too long.
Meanwhile, that long pass Nuss completed under immense pressure to Jack Bech at the back of the end zone was off the charts and could have only been thrown by Nussmeier and maybe Patrick Mahomes.
Nonetheless, had TDP not fumbled away that bad wildcat snap deep in Arkansas territory, that game never would have gone into overtimes, had Cade York not missed that routine for him field goal, that game never would have gone into overtime, and had Brian Thomas, Jr. caught that perfectly thrown pass to the edge of the end zone after the Arkansas defender had fallen down, that game never would have gone into overtime.
With the exception of only two passes, Nussmeier's play in that Arkansas game was excellent.
Moreover, against Alabama last year, Nussmeier never ever saw the field.
However, in the Ole Miss game, both of Nuss' possessions led to scores and he looked like a future first rounder with elite arm talent doing it. I mean those NFL level throws he made to Jontre Kirklan, Brian Thomas, Jr, and Malik Nabers in tight windows were all next level and off the charts.
In any event, it was the ESPN announcers who became so enamored by Nuss' play and elite arm talent in the spring game that said Nuss has the "it factor".

Your wrong Daniel’s played around 30 games at Arizona St.

What do you expect?
I expect you to present information correctly.
It was Bert Jones and Paul Lyons that competed and shared playing time.

If you take Daniels 29 games of experience and place it under the microscope of scrutiny, it reveals that Daniels has not only severely regressed each and every year he has been a college football QB, but that he is also an exceedingly mediocre QB today.
Some of you loons just accept experience at face value, but that is just stupid. Some experience proves QBs to be very good and other experience proves QBs to be very mediocre. In the case of Daniels, his experience more than proves he is very mediocre.
Indeed, considering how great LSU wide receiver room is, to name someone like Daniels the starter because he has 29 games of experience would not only be a tragic mistake, but it would also constitute a crime.

I hate rotations more than anything. Pick one and go with it until they need replacing.

I posted both Bert and Steve had backups who played. Your reading comprehension sucks.
