But to say Kelly promised Daniels the job makes you look like a complete idiot.

It sure seems that way. Especially when you consider what Kelly said after the game.

I guarantee you DC's would be more worried if #13 was the starter versus #5.

Daniels just beat everyone out. It’s that simple.

Not quite that simple. It was clear that Daniels was the third best QB behind Nussmeier and Brennan by the end of the spring. Next thing you know, Kelly is talking about Daniels and Nuss battling for the QB1 spot and Brennan taking the train. Then Nuss hurts his ankle in practice and the "competition" is over, despite claims it was too close to call. No one had a shot at that QB1 spot except Jayden Daniels because he is Brian Kelly's guy, and not a hold-over from the previous coach or a true freshman. JD was gifted the job.

There is so much mis-information and just plain bad takes in this thread, it is hard to react to it all…
First of all…not 1/2 the fan base wants JD gone just 1/2 the morons on this board.
About the comment BK needs a running QB to feel comfortable, this is total BS…he had numerous QBs at ND who didn’t run.
BK says everything with a purpose behind it…he tells the truth, and he is almost always right. Gaining and maintaining the trust of his Team is the foundation of what he does…
If he said there was a QB competition, then there was.

No one really knows what went on with Brennan…if he was such a prize, why didn’t he transfer? He looked like a guy who lost his passion for the game .
Kelly wouldn’t say his plan was keeping all three QBs if there was no chance of that happening…I think we will…

Just say it… Kelly was commanded to play Daniels by his lizard-alien overlords. (Sarcasm)

Daniels was the right guy this year. Nuss was an interception throwing spaz against Southern. No way do we beat Alabama without JD. Daniels was clearly the best choice for this season.

If Nuss has to transfer I hope he stays in the SEC west.

Bert Jones played in a 2 QB system.

Hey, if had one guy who averaged bout 300 yds of total O per game when he played, 28 total TDs, 3 ints, completed 69% of his passes, help the team beat Bama for only the second time in 11 years, and win the SEC he would be my guy as well. lol

Oh and the other guy while looking good in mop up duties threw almost as many interceptions as he did touchdown passes for the year and his career.

I forgot, one guy was voted MVP and the other guy well not so much.

Nuss plays quarterback for LSU and I hope he does extremely well every time he enters the game, but at this time in their careers JD comes out on top and it’s not even close. imo

Right. Coaches are infallible. All educated people agree on that.

I would be shocked if nuss stayed with lsu through the season if Daniels is the starter

Niss can start for a lot of teams next year

Why be shocked? If Nuss continues to improve he would be a near lock as starter for 2024!

Nuss understands how the position should be played. Daniels does not.

Bama having a viable second option at QB when their dual threat struggled in the passing game literally won them the national championship

They did not play with a 2 QB system which is what the OP asked. UF is the only recent one I can recall.

He's either really, really good or just plain awful.

It would be wise to have someone able to come in and take over when he's having one his awful games.

Stetson was 11/19 for 116 yds at UK in a game where UGA only put up 16 points. Sometimes good QBs have bad games.

Definitely. But, how many teams could Nuss start for next year that can make a run at the SEC, CFP, AND is returning nearly the entire offense? LSU is the only one I can think of.

Nuss is gone in Spring. Especially if he wants to showcase his talents. He’d be an instant starter on a lot of teams.

If Nuss was somewhere else and in the portal, not a soul on this board would want him at LSU with his production.

I want him to stay, but some of you really overrate what he is at this point.
