re: Kelly clearly told Brody Miller he didn’t trust the refs

That one irked me too. Its like they are trying to play judge and interpret the rule by whether or not the trajectory was affected by the tip and that’s not how the rules work. A tip is a tip regardless of what happens to the trajectory of the ball. You could clearly see his finger bend backwards from touching the ball. Once again in a major game the refs make blunder after blunder.

but to blow both reviewed calls is atrocious...Brooks had both hands on the ball...
At the only time the defender's hand was really near the ball, Brooks did NOT have possession. After the defenders hand swiped by you could still see the ball moving. But my problem was whether the defenders hand actually touched the ball. To me it was inconclusive yet they overturned. This is what I have a problem with.
And on the tipped ball it does appear that the middle finger bends backwards. I don't know it was clear enough to overturn. Bottom line is if you could have overturned one then you could have overturned the other.
In my objective opinion if I were the ref I probably would have not overturned either as neither seemed "without a shadow of a doubt", so I think the refs were ok on 1 of the plays.

The calls that were clearly BS that weren’t holding (too many to mention):
- Bama player launches and leads with head on roughing the passer, yet no targeting call/ejection
- LSU’s Brooks clearly has two hands on the ball and a knee down. The field ref immediately awards possession to LSU before the pile forms. Booth/Head Ref overturns with non objective criteria for saying no possession (no rule clears it up). Kelly is clearly showed on sideline arguing with this stupid interpretation by the ref about non-possession
- Ref marks the ball 2.5 yards further forward on a spot for a first down. It was egregiously spotted. At least it was reviewed and fixed.
- Ref allows Bama player to get up and run for another 8 yards after being down. It was egregiously incorrect. The defenders on the field clearly let him go because they knew he was down. Bama player had knee and forearm on ground. The player when down because LSU player tackled him by the lower leg and held on to him until Bama player hit the ground. At least it was reviewed and fixed. Probably the same ref that screwed up the other spot. Needed to sub that ref out at that point.
- Daniels slides and is contacted by a late launching player. They wave the off the flag saying he missed him which was objectively false. Kelly loses his mind on the refs immediately.
- Pass Interference call is reviewed for tipped ball. Review clearly shows tip through the impact on the players hand/fingers. There is no rule saying it has to affect the ball to a certain degree.
Kelly had to go for two during the first overtime period for the win as there were just too many issues with officiating. Holding was clearly not called fairly, but there were too many plays to discuss there. LSU had several drive killing hold calls against them that were questionable at best. Bama had similar calls called differently and several egregious once that were just “missed”.
I will give credit to the refs for choosing not to go down the path of calling a bunch of bs personal foul penalties away from the ball or taunting penalties. They called one bs personal foul penalty on LSU away from the ball on a punt return, but it was as manipulative of a situation by the refs as they have in the past to influence the game.

Yeah I made a thread on the Score Board last night saying Kelly had to learn you can't be complacent against Bama because you have to beat them and the refs.
People melted in the thread
Why would people melt about that statement? It's absolutely 100% true and had been for 12 years.

The refs suck but quote:A specific rule few knew or understood overturned an LSU takeaway. How is not knowing the rules the refs fault?
I get what you’re saying and that was poorly explained.
To me there’s no way you could definitively say the Bama player touched the ball while he was out of bounds. I saw the Ryan’s hands around it and it looked to me that the Bama player either touched his hands or nothing at all.
It was just as close as the tipped ball at the line of scrimmage and I don’t feel like there was enough evidence to overturn the ruling on the field in either scenario.

This one was laughable because the Alabama players knee slammed into the ground hard enough to make a divot.

A lot of people either don’t remember or gloss this. I think we were about to riot. I was SEZ and it wasn’t looking pretty.
I was in the student section for this and I remember the longer it took, the worse the crowd got until the overturn.

Kelly was clearly aware that the odds were not in our favor if we kicked the extra point and went into a second OT. The officials would've found a way to screw us. He said that he did not want to let the officials decide the outcome of the game. Smart man.
