I think 6 is a safe number, plus we have a few safeties that can crossover in certain packages

People complained about Netherly switching over & potentially this kid from John Curtis by way of Stanford, but honestly if we have to play the 6th & 7th CB on our roster, we are fricked either way even in our best year. It’s likely a freshman or a SR with no experience and/or limited ability

Probably. Not saying it wasn’t a loss. Just talking numbers

6th or 7th?

It's quite possible that our starting CB2 is a liability. We may have enough talent at other positions and a DC that can manage that scenario.

But, what if we lose Greedy? That's one injury that could destroy our defense.

Losing Greedy would be a problem regardless who is on the team. After losing our 2 starters to the draft

Everything is relative.

Losing CB1 when you already are scheming to cover your existing CB2 liability is very different than when you have two solid starters.

Fulton looks like he has been in weight room putting in work. He looks ready to start this season opposite Greedy with Kary Vincent and Kirklin in the slot

I'm assuming Fulton has to wait until the fall to be cleared. Obviously his "suspension" is for the academic year.

He didn't practice last year? I don't understand why this would be uge news. If he didn't practice last year, we are basically relying on a dude that has played zero college football to be our #2 corner? Great roster management by coach O.

Man...that's funny.

After we failed to address the numbers need there through recruiting.

Penrod. I dont agree with most of his post. But the mismanagement of the roster part is accurate. How can DBU not land a top 300 corner?

I agree totally. I even said so in my post. However, he criticised Orgeron for having to rely on an inexperienced corner. My point was there’s not a thing in the world Orgeron could have done about that. He could have landed Surtain and the other top 10 corners, and we would still be relying on inexperienced corners.

It was a stupid criticism of a coach who certainly deserves to be criticised.

What existing liability? YOU don't know our CB2 will be a liability! No one does. You're just assuming it will be because that's the go-to doom-and-gloom attitude of some people.

NO ONE thought much of Greedy going into last year. How did that work out? There are players on this team more highly thought of that Williams coming in. Maybe one of them rises up like he did. Maybe more than one. Maybe not.

But to call an unknown a liability in March is, well, just TR Pathetic.

Keep this stupid post going and our 2018 opponents will be tempted to intentionally try to injure Greedy......... just to see if our number 2 guy can do the job

It’s like advertising the FBI can’t catch people who want to shoot up schools on the bulletin boards of all schools.........

Stupid ...... how about talking about our positives and let the defensive coaches do their job and earn their million dollar salaries

So, as it stands right now, we are picking CB2 and a Nickel out of 3 scholarship players...two who played different positions in high school.

In the fall, we will be adding a highly recruited player who was initially recruited as a safety and played safety in high school.

You can call it doom and gloom if you want. I call that a rational, fair assessment of a real problem we have heading into the season.
