Vincent sucked in '04 and he wasn't injured.

He started dancin and looking for the homerun. To be fair though, Addai was on a mission that year.

How can you say either "wasted" talent? Perilloux wasted talent. Broussard and Vincent didn't quite live up to the hype for whatever reason, but they were in the ring fighting.

I just don't know what happened to JV. I don't buy the "Bogie's theory" or the "Moffitized theory" either.

I'm thinking...and this could obviously be totally off base.....that JV was just out there playing his freshman year. He started to think about his reads too much later on.

I don't know if JV ever really learned the position. If he had kept that speed, learned the position, and played with the same vision and intelligence that he played with his freshman year that kid could have been great.

People forget that his injury also coincided with a coaching change at LSU.

I agree this had a lot to do with it. When Miles showed up, Addai was peaking.

I like them both and I'm not going to bash them for not regaining their form after injury.None of us know how hard they worked to return to form. No two injuries are the same. Any posters here return to play after this surgery?

Didn't JV get a ACL injury before the NC season? Isn't that why he was a RS?

He didn't qualify in 2002 and then joined the team in December. He was a true freshman in 2003.

Vincent didnt have the desire to be great. That was clear.

Whether it was Bogies or partying or him just being lazy, all he did was get bigger and more out of shape as his career went on.

He was pretty much content with what he did as a freshman.

it sure does seem like people forget that JV had a torn ACL.

What year did he tear his ACL?

Broussard didn't like rehab and never had the desire or drive to fight through it. He lacked the discipline.
Broussard was the better back IMO- power, speed and surprising agility and moves.
JV had many opportunities but couldn't elevate his game. He had a great season in '03 and was done.

in the 05 Peach Bowl. on special teams I believe. he made it back in time to start the 06 season, and had really put in work in the weight room from what I heard. he could just never get back to that 03 form.

Neither one would set the house on fire. I'm still waiting for that big Herschel Walker or Emmit Smith type running back.

JV just didn't have the physical tools.

I don't think it was his attitude, because Tomlin wouldn't have kept him on the practice squad for three years. Plus the Steelers have already invited him to interview for running backs coach next time the position opens.

Alley reminded me of the old Georgia and Auburn backs like Hearst and Jackson or Lars Tate in that they were big, fast, and could run you over then run away from you.

Who wasted more potential?

Tough question since they each had their moments but didn't rehab from injury well.

Alley probably had more talent, but I agree with those who say JV began to suck before he got hurt.

While Alley's injury evidently stunted his development, which he never really worked to get back, I'm not sure JV's work ethic would've ever allowed him to reach his potential, even if he hadn't been injured. So I'll say JV.

Jv, spent every night getting tanked up in a local joint. Biggest disappointment in LSU history after first season.

Not sure what happened to JV but from some of these comments sounds like he was his own demise.
