It's history, who cares. Anyone still talking about this guy is looking in the wrong direction and that's more so to all the shoulda woulda coulda crowds. It's over time to move on. He's doing great things for Clemson. Good for him. Tells me that he's a smart young man for picking a school that for his skill set to a tee. Not sure he would be doing the same things at LSU but he would be helping for sure.
The backs we have and will land in the future will do fine things for this program. Time to move on people. We missed on him, end of story.

We know both went full court press on Cam Akers.
It’s really as simple as this. Both of them went swinging for the fences on Akers, and when O didn’t get Akers, he turned to Travis. Who understandably felt slighted by that point and went with Clemson

Well, better players is a start.
Orgeron inherited the best Roster he will ever have and did no better, actually worse than the 2015 team. Miles firing in 2016 after 4 games with two losses to the only 2 teams ranked higher than ALA. Orgeron lost to FLA, unranked FLA.
Without Austin Thomas flipping 2 5 stars the 2017 Class would not have been ranked in the Top 20.
quote:
In the five seasons Thomas spent on LSU’s staff, the Tigers have finished with the nation’s No. 2 recruiting class (2014), No. 5 class (2015), No. 2 class (2016), No. 7 class and currently have the No. 13 class for the 2018 cycle with the first signing period quickly approaching.
quote:
For the 2017 recruiting cycle, 247Sports named Thomas the nation’s 10th best individual recruiter. Pretty remarkable considering he’s not even on staff at LSU as a coach. Every other member of the individual top 25 recruiters list is an assistant or head coach. That lofty ranking came after Thomas led the charge in LSU landing two five-star prospects from Tennessee — defensive back JaCoby Steven and linebacker Jacob Phillips. In an unusual move, LSU took defensive line coach Pete Jenkins off the road this time last year and replaced him with Thomas. The move obviously paid off for the Tigers with two crucial signatures. How did LSU land the two prospects everyone in the nation wanted, including flipping Phillips’ Oklahoma commitment at the final hour? “All Austin,” Orgeron said to James Bewers of The Advocate. “He got Jacob Phillips. I knew (Austin) was going to be good, but those results are phenomenal. I didn’t know we were going to get those results. “Very rare to get two five-star recruits to come to LSU your first go around (at off-campus recruiting).” His aspirations apparently don’t stop at the college game, either. According to those who know him best in the profession, Thomas will one day be running an NFL franchise. “Austin I believe one day will be an NFL General Manager,” Orgeron said to Barton Simmons of 247Sports. “He’s very talented. He’s the general manager. I trust him in all aspects. He can have the keys to the car. I trust him in everything that he does.”

If it weren't for Les Miles recruiting Gurus he wouldn't have even sniffed a good season, so what?
The year Thomas left we struggled a bit recruiting and adjusting but look what we are now doing with time to adjust to him being gone. Personally I think the 2018 class will do just as great of things for this program as the 2017 and 2019 class will do. Who cares?
Les Miles became a joke at the end of his career here and Orgeron is keeping the same players that left this program dry after their 3rd year. We aren't seeing near the anount of 3rd year players leaving with O and that's great recruiting in of itself.
Where would we be without Fehoko, Burrow, Tracy and the OLman we got last year who didn't even count toward that class. People are so damn blind because they hate the man for personal reasons. I know this bc I hear shrimp boat captain and yaw yaw still to this day. Freakn morons.
He's got the program in the top ten and likely close to the top 5 in his second season. We are returning more veterans than we have in a very long time and that's on both sides of the ball. I think this coach knows what he's doing obviously. If the rant would have gotten their wish, we would be on our 3rd OC in as many years, something that would have no doubt set us back another year.
He's bringing some consistency back dispite all the negativity for going 10-3. Man I can't stand some of this fanbase. It's exactky like the left in this country. They can't see beyond right in front of them because of their unreasonable hate. Frick all of you and I hope y'all give up all those season tickets and stop coming to games. Maybe the stadium will become more of what it once was. Real fans who love this team no matter what. Frick you clowns.

Miles was all in for Akers and it backfired. Etienne felt snubbed. Oh well move on.

Akers was clearly the better prospect, so I can't blame Les for rating him higher than Etienne.

This thread is just shite-stirring. I don't follow recruiting that much, but I do remember LSU being after Akers instead of Etienne. They thought they'd get him, and didn't want to antagonize him by taking another back that class.

It's pretty incredible. They view themselves as super fans while they completely trash the coach that oversaw the greatest decade in LSU history.
