Man i remember watching a clip of this kid in our indoor facility between his junior and senior year and he ran a fake post and out. I think it’s called a sluggo route but he made the defender sprint in the other direction and everyone at the camp lost their mind. I remember looking up his ranking and thinking “oh he’s not LSU caliber”

He and Shea Patterson will forever be the reason why I don’t care about internet stars beside a kids name. Show me the film

I atill think his recruiting ranking had to do with qualification issues

I don't think that's how it works. The rating is based on how valuable he is predicted to be on a collegiate team and his NFL potential. He was a strong 3 star. Thanks to hard work and an outstanding offense he improved. His measurables were right where a 3 star would be.

Losing Jefferson and Chase is a really big deal. We have a lot of talent at WR, but you don't lose 2/3 of your WR trio and not feel it.

Our offense with Chase this year would have been pretty close to last year. There is no replacing a receiver that your QB has no fear in just throwing it in his direction and 99% of the time he either makes a play or keeps the defender from making a play.

whats crazy is you had lsu fans talking shite about his talent in 2018 so they wouldn't have to blame that shite scheme.

Kind of hard to take your point that PFF sucks seriously when you don’t watch the NFL enough to have your own opinion

I've kept an eye on the rookies around the league, irrespective of position. I know that Jets has been good because I've seen him play. I haven't kept an eye on the WRs around the league. Therefore, I can't comment on how he stacks up against them.

That has nothing to do with my point that PFF is largely a circle jerking organization that uses their own algorithm to justify how "well" a player performs.

I wouldn't go that far in terms of production, but if you see Brennan's trust in throwing to Marshall, your second point is very valid.

What’s the value of a guy who can’t get into school?

My recollection was that people were expecting Chase and Marshall to surpass Jefferson due to their ranking/talent level.

It was the same with CEH and Emery/TDP. No way this little 3 star kid from Catholic was going to keep 5 star Emery and TDP off the field.

You’re literally using an eyeball test for a handful of players, you’re doing the exact same thing except you don’t have any actual real data or points of reference

Per his high school coach a combination of needing to qualify and everyone thinking he was coming to LSU (they were right) is why he got so little interest, it wasn't that schools didn't see his talent:

quote:

The theories as to why Jefferson never blew up are many: “I was undersized in high school,” Jefferson said. “I was 175. But I don’t really know. I had pretty good film.” “Two things,” Robicheaux said. “One. He needed one more class to be eligible. Two. Everybody that came around the school thought he was going to LSU.”

I can't have this argument again.

An eyeball test is far superior than data points when you want to know how well a player performed.

Do you think Arik Gilbert's rating goes down if he had a summer course to complete in order to qualify? Besides that, most if not all guys 3 star and above seem to qualify one way or another.

I get your point though. I simply saying Justin's rating doesn't seem all that off to me.

Problem with that logic is you claim you haven't been watching much.
