I have a question and I am not flaming. If you make a half a million dollars a year as an OC shouldn't you know how to coach your recievers on which foot to get off on?

WTF is it with folks taking apart every single line and then making it out to be gospel. He is a new coach - obviously there needs to be something written about him.

If reporters were to write - Gonzales started coaching the WRs today - I am sure you would ask "not to flame - but why didn't your OC coach the WRs before"

Wilson is on the staff and according to reports" he is doing a great job"

Followup on the rant- " not to flame - but wtf were our recruiters doing before -if he is doing a great job now"

That is what was said when Crowton was hired.

do you want to reserve judgment and wait till you actually see the result on the field or do you want to start the moaning and whining right away?

The irritation was mainly because of Scoop - While it was not an outright flame - the statement question coming from a Bammer was not as much innocuous as it was condescension and smugness.

Every new coach has stuff written about them - doesn't mean existing folks are lumps of clay - merely that we have to write something about the new guy.

Bowl season and they need work on using the "right" foot to get off the line of scrimmage!
what in the world has gone on the last year!

Its amazing how poorly coached LSU has been over the last 2 years. From Mallory and Peveto on defense last season to the WRs, Oline, QB development, clock management, and offensive playcalling this season. Maybe Billy can get us fixed.

Gonzales also said he's made sure that his receivers are getting off on the right foot, literally. Gonzales has shuffled the corps footwork to help them get off the line faster and run their routes better. Jefferson noted it has shown in practice.

It shouldnt surprise anyone. This, I'm sure, is just a tiny example of the many areas that have been poorly coached/emphasized since Miles became HC.

Instead of inspiring each player to have a want to achieve victory, maybe he should be inspiring them to have a want to play correctly

Quarterback Jordan Jefferson said that in 7 on 7 drills the receivers and quarterback have been working at an 80% completion rate, clearly an increase from previous rates, if Jefferson's tone was any indicator.

And how does 7 on 7 drills teach Jefferson how to get out of the pocket or throw the ball away to avoid sacks. That was clearly Jefferson's biggest problem in passing situations.

I am glad he is making a positive impact, but I have one question....how many folks are gonna get in on the play calling?

Hell, we barely got the play off with Crowton by himself , we gonna need about 17 timeouts.

Timing is the only thing that jumps out at me. If JJ and the WRs get their timing down that could alleviate some of JJ's holding on to the ball. Now, if Gonzales can somehow get JJ to take off about a half second earlier when he feels pressure we'll be set.

It looks like LSU is still having problems with clock management. For the past three interview sessions the media has waited outside in the rain for an extra 50 minutes last Thursday, an extra 45 minute in the cold on Saturday and an extra 40 minutes tonight while the team finished it's practice sessions.

Sounds to me like they didn't leave y'alls asses out there long enough. I freaking hate how the media acts like they are entitled to have access to anything. As the media, you have the right to report what you find, not a right to barge into situtations like you have some authority over people. Instead of demanding more, be greatful that you are given any access/information. SCREW THE MEDIA!!!

If Gonzales is >> McCarthy, then doesn't it concern you that Les hired McCarthy and this poor receiver coaching went on unabated for 3 years.

if I remember correctly, McCarthy was a hot commodity at the time, having put a couple of guys in the NFL. I don't think he did a bad job, but sometimes a different guy might notice something subtle that can make a big difference.

Gonzales made it a point, on numerous times, that he's not here to take over for Crowton, instead he's there to help Crowton with organization as well as play selection.

That's the sort of things people say before they fire the OC. Why not just give Crowton a vote of confidence?
