Yeah but if he didn't suck at Miami Saban wouldn't have left when he did and thus Alabama would have a different head coach.

That’s true, but OU was favored over Mizzo (they were Mizzo’s loss going in) WVU was a 3 TD favorite, Pitt was terrible going into the day I thought it would be tOSU and WVU and I really think WVU would have won it.

And the Saints would probably have a different quarterback.

I love this narrative, he didn’t “suck” at Miami, he was not fired, they were pissed he left when he did. Now if he had signed Brees, he might have stayed but he left because I think he realized he was better suited as a college HC and because Mal Moore was desperate

Will never forget

Also a big to LSUmatt. I remember printing out his analysis that we would get in if Pitt and OU beat WVU and Mizzou. No one believed it.

I think he's saying Wannstedt sucked at Miami. He was gone midseason too, so Huizenga got a head start on wooing Saban.

I like Wannstedt, and I've always wondered what it is he's lacking AS A HEAD COACH. He has seemingly done well as a coordinator and has a great personality, but he has been a horrific head coach every time he's tried it.

I don't know if this is fair or not, but some of the local media in Chicago used to say he was too nice. Maybe he was just never totally comfortable with the pressures of being the head guy.

And to be fair, he had a couple of solid teams at Pitt; he once had them ranked pretty high in November. But again, maybe his personality wasn't right to be a successful head coach.

You're right, ulsaint, that little f**ker was laughable getting in their faces. I remember he had that 1 ginormous fellow crying, and I suspect it took a lot for him not beat that lil tyrant into the ground.
