Nick Saban’s record at Michigan State was unimpressive, and he didn’t win a bowl game, but he experienced a change in fortune with SEC players. Let’s give Kelly the benefit of the doubt, and hate on him if he fails to deliver.

I’m surprised Ed O knows how to post pictures on TD.

I've said this many times. Brian Kelly is the guy u hire 10 years ago. He will not coach here for 10 years and fulfill his contract. I will bet anyone on this board on that. I simply wanted to avoid doing all of this coaching search shite all over again in the not so distant future. But by hiring a man who will qualify for social security in 2 years, this is exactly what we will be doing. I'm sure he will do fine, I'm sure he will win games and probably get us to the playoffs and a natty. But he will leave early for 1 reason or another. That is my prediction.

Was there a quest for getting a proven coach for cheap?

Was there ever fans clamouring for average seasons and no SeC title games for LSU football?

All I ever see around here is a desire for continued success in our football program.

That was a graphic to show BK's record vs top 10 teams while at notre dame. Was lsu ranked in the top 10 when they were beaten by notre dame?

2014 Music City Bowl - #23 LSU

2018 VRBO Citrus Bowl - #18 LSU

I think not... Moron! Lol

Anyone who says that his record vs top competition while at notre dame is acceptable or even close to the level of expectation at LSU is a complete idiot.

The overall athletes a coach gets to have at LSU are way above the overall talent at Notre Dame. In fact, I'd guess that Notre Dame doesn't even possess Top 10 in the nation talent. If they do, it's barely.

So yeah, the expectation vs. Top 10 teams as head coach of LSU probably should be higher than what's expected from ND's head coach.

I agree with everything you said. However, it seems everyone is anointing this guy as the second coming of Jesus Christ or some dumb shite like that. The guy had roughly a 75% winning percentage at notre dame. Wanna guess what our last 3 coaches had at LSU? All roughly 75%.

I get your argument. He will do better here because he has better athletes. I agree 100%.

But nothing changes the fact that he is old. For the record I would have been absolutely furious if we had hired Saban. He won't last very long. You simply don't hire a 60+ year old coach and give them a 10 year contract. He will never be here that long!!!

If he coaches for four years at LSU, wins a national championship and then retires, that's okay with me.

Four coaches. Four national championships.

Meh. Saban turned 56 during his first season at Bama and last I checked he’s still there over 15 years and some change from his hire date. A little younger than BK will be, as he’ll turn 61 in October, but let’s not act like it’s gonna be out of the question for a man with as much drive about coaching as BK has to be coaching into his 70s, especially if he has the success we’re hoping he will here and keeps getting the support from the university, boosters, and fanbase that comes with said success.

Some Coach here at LSU stomped a mud hole in Saban in the independence bowl I was there.
