i was on the 91 CHS Team that played against him in the Newman Invitational .... we had a great starting lineup, but he dropped 38 like it was nothing and they won by 7 or so.
and it wasn't like he had a great supporting cast. That CHS Team was undefeated the following regular season.

If he didn't rip up his knee, big time NBA player.
He was that good.
He was that good.

Easily the best I've ever seen.

I think those "best HS player ever" comments are quite a bit far-fetched.

Everybody knows that Tack Minor holds this title. He once scored 83 points in a high school game.

Watched him practice and play right after us in the top 24. He was a complete beast.

I sincerely believe he would have led us to at least one final, probably more.
He was big. He made everyone around him, better. He knew what he wanted to do and did it. Coach on the court, too.
And when we needed a basket, he could drive to the basket. Even hurt, he could take over a game. We could have rode his back to a NCAA championship, imv.

1991 State Semi-finals, Block vs Newman. I had a great seat as a sophmore on the bench for Block. As the point guard, he was the center for the tip-off. Tipped it to Cooper Manning who took three dribbles and tossed an alley-oop from just inside half court which Randy caught backwards. Shaq was in the stands behind the bench and just stood up and went ballistic cheering. Randy scored at will in the paint, hit threes from 25ft, and threw passes with a court sense you can't teach. Finished his night with 40something points. Was a 15 yr. old sophmore at the time. If there was a high school kid better, I haven't seen it.

Played in an AAU tournament that he was in in Orlando when I was 14 or 15. Randy was amazing and was all just about anyone was talking about.

Best HS player I've seen.
Was the score keeper for a game his Sr. year that they played against my younger brothers team.
First 2 Q's he never looked to shoot, only dish.
Midway in the 3rd Buras closed to within 6 and the show began. The next 5 possessions were 2 monster reverse dunks and 3 threes. All within about 2 minutes. Everyone was just amazed.
At the end of the night he put up 30+ pts, 10+ rebs, 10+ assists.
A actually watched him drain 3 after 3 when he was warming up before the game.
Kid was incredible.

He was a flat out baller. I use to work with his mom at Charity Hospital and we would take off early to go watch him play. Peyton Manning was his back up in Basketball and he was Peyton's back up in football. Both were very athletic.
Damn this swipe.

I saw Newman in the state finals. He was good but it was 2A and Peyton Manning was the 2nd best player on the team.

This famous Newman team beat my HS, Rapides, in the finals. We were up at the half because Peyton and RL both had 3 fouls in the first qtr or so and set the whole second qtr. Right before half the IN coach called timeout and went straight to the officials and ripped them a new a-hole. Peyton and RL pretty much played the whole second half and finished the game with 3 fouls each.

I played against him, I was a senior he was a soph. It was like we were all playing in slow motion around him, and yes he did dunk over me.....very humbling... He also had Cooper Manning on his team.. also very good

Watched randy play in high school against my hannan hawks. Dude was a beast among boys. Watched him do a 360 as he drove through the lane in the middle of 3 defenders. Just an absolute amazing athlete. I long jumped against him at a track meet at chalmette high. Dude beet me by 4 feet and never broke a sweat. Looked like he was barely even trying
