Has anyone looked at Florida's record this year? If O'Sullivan were here and had that record this site would be screaming for his head.

Best statement in this thread...
Sully’s 2011 team had 9 players who played in the majors..didn’t win a championship.
People forget Florida was preseason top 5 to start the season, and they probably won’t make a regional.

Florida has a 9-15 record in the SEC right now
They have also lost 5 midweek games this season

I think O’Sullivan is the best coach in the country at the moment but this statement is so not true. O’Sullivan has had some of the most talented teams in the country during his tenure and only has won one National Championship.
Does he not have great administrative support? Yes that is true but he has had plenty of talent on his teams. Especially on the mound.
If Sully was at LSU some of the fans would have never given him the chance to win his only NC. It took him seven tries to win it all. Would have been plenty of “well he has got us as far as he can. Need to bring someone in that can get us over the hump. O’Sullivan can’t win in Omaha.”

I dont know the answer to this question. But if a change is made it'll be refreshing to see a coach in the dugout who looks interested in the game... as opposed to the way Mainieri has looked disinterested these last few weeks

People are trying to read way too much into the guy’s body language. His team isn’t playing consistently at the moment. Some of it is his fault some of it is the players on the field and some of it is out of his and the players hands. We would all be frustrated as well if we were in his position.

This is the argument people used to use when discussing the potential firing of Les Miles. It’s a weak argument for the status quo.

Man, a lot wrong with this. For the record, I think he is a very good coach. But he's had some of the most absurd talent of any program in the country over the years. They've had a nice run lately, making 4 CWS in a row and winning one, but he would have been run out of town at LSU before that could have occurred on grounds of "underachieving". Just because they don't have much fan support doesn't mean he has had nothing to work with. He's in the most fertile high school baseball territory in the country.

What it does do however is show how much of the fanbase is ignorant of college baseball coaching when they think it’s a given that a coach like O’Sullivan would be packing his bags the instant LSU called.
I don’t think many posters here realize who a realistic replacement candidate is. People also can’t accept things like the fact that Alex Box is a dump compared to these new and renovated stadiums across the SEC.

Count me in with the "Not quite time to start looking elsewhere" crowd. However, IF we were faced with trying to find a new coach:
Jim Schlossnagle- TCU
-48 years old
-Ties to Louisiana via being an assistant at Tulane 1994-2001
-.687 winning % @ TCU
-@UNLV: 1 Regional Appearance in 2 years
-@TCU: 13 post-season appearances in 15 years, 7 supers, 5 CWS appearances

Give him a Second chance
Exactly! How many other coaches have gotten second chances? Cannizaro would be a home run hire! End of story!

You can hope we give Cannizaro another chance all you want. It's not happening with Mainieri still here. And maybe we should wait more than 1 or 2 years to see if he's actually capable of focusing on coaching and keeping his dick in his pants.

No argument just gauging who people want to replace him. Football is easier to come up with a list of coaches to go after. Baseball outside of the sec doesn’t get a lot of talk to know what coaches could come here and win to the fans expectations. Most coaches find their way back home stay longer than football. So when I ask who would the rant go after, it’s to honestly see who the rant would want.

Cliff Godwin (ECU coach) would be my choice.
Asst coach at LSU 06-08.
2018 record- 44-18
Current record (2019) - 36-11
This will be the 4th year they make NCAA tournament out of his 5 seasons coached.
Might be a stretch to pull him away though since he played at ECU

He’s had the same success as Mainieri and yet many of y’all want him? Honestly, he’s underachieved with the talent he has in Gainesville. Y’all are basically asking for the same thing that we already have.
LSU fans want coaches fired just for the sake of firing the coach. They don’t really think about what happens after that. These are the same fans that wanted Les Miles fired to replace him with Ed Orgeron who is doing the exact same thing that Miles was doing and getting 10 times the amount of credit for it. If Les won 10 games it wasn’t good enough but when Ed does it its overachieving. Did Les need to be fired? Absolutely. There’s no doubt he did but the way a large portion of the fan base yelled for Orgeron to get the job was disturbing considering his resume was laughable compared to the coach that was just fired.
The same would be the case for a new baseball coach. We could win X amount of games and make it to college World Series with Paul, and then turn around and do the same thing with a new coach and it would just be better even if the results are the same. It’s just the nature of the fan base.
Now, I’m not saying that Paul needs to be fired or not but I’m simply stating a couple of facts about a big portion of this fan base. It’s pretty funny when you stand back and observe it for a while.

Jeff Willis @ LSU E
In 16 seasons at LSUE, he has compiled a 779-178 record (.811 winning percentage) and has never finished ranked lower than 7th in the country.
