I've never seen a dude like him & I've been going to LSU games for 35 years. He understands the game. After he knocks the shite out of the opponent he takes the ball away.
Kid is a ball hawking beast.

I think LB is a spot we can't afford to take a hit at, losing TM would hurt but there's plenty of talent back there to patch us through

Who in that mediocre corp is so much better than his replacement? We can't lose 2 or 3 guys because of depth, but I don't think anyone of the LBs is individually irreplacable.

Talent, sure. But I don't know that we have any playmakers of his caliber. He can literally change a game on 1 play. And I expect him to do that on PRs too. Not that we should forfeit the season if he goes down by any means, I just think he's our biggest game-changer.

I love watching our defense from the Florida game last year.

# 14 Tyrann Mathieu
Position: Defensive Back
Height: 5'9"
Weight: 180 lbs.
Class: Sophomore
Experience: 1 Letter
City/State: New Orleans, La.
High School: St. Augustine HS
Born: 05/13/1992
The knock on him is he's to small, that he can't hang with the big boys. So I got curious and looked this bit of information up.
Darrell Green
Position: Defensive Back
Height: 5'9"
Weight: 184
Age: 51
Born: 2/15/1960 Houston , TX
College: Texas A&M - Kingsville
Pro Team: Green Bay
Experience: 20 Seasons
Hall of Fame Induction: 2008
Now this fellow doesn't need an introduction. He was considered the greatest defensive back in professional football. If Tyrann stays healthy, he has similar chemistry to Darrell Green. So any flak Tyrann gets for being to small are rather pointless. I totally disagree with those who say Tyrann is to small. He is playing great football, I hope he stays healthy.

I'd think losing baker or even minter could hurt a good bit. MLB depth is probably one of my bigger concerns. I think minter will be a good one, but behind him? Ehh

I love watching that kid play. He really has it all and I seriously think he has the potential to be as good as PP7 if he stays healthy.
I can't wait for this season to start.

His breaking ability is equal to or better than Brent Grimes

Regarding LB depth, I hope the team can stay healthy, but am hoping that someone emerges from fall practices between Welter, Barrow, Trevon Randle & maybe Tahj Jones to pass Francois who contributed very little to the defense last season. Yes, Tyrann is the man & he is mean & a very smart, defender with great instincts. The comparison with D. Green proves someone of that size can be great & perhaps a future Hall of Famer like Green.
