That amazing game last night was supposed to be televised. Jumbo was to broadcast it and it was going to be carried by Comcast Sports and available to millions. CSS website showed LSU-USM even yesterday but played an old re-run instead.

I hope Jumbo sports is kicking themselves today. That game would have been huge for them. A game like that would have created new fans and gotten the word out to advertisers. That was an outstanding college baseball game that we all had to watch on gametracker and TD.

Can someone here findout what happened...why the last minute bail?

This game had been scheduled to be produced by Jumbo Sports about as long as the schedule was released. About 10 days ago, it was taken off the schedule. I wondered what happened, so I called LSU SID. The lady I spoke with did not know, but she said I should get in touch with Bill Franquez. I tried calling him a couple of times. I left him a voice mail, but he never returned my call. Every other time I called him, I got his voice mail. The other day, someone posted that someone in the LSU Athletic Dept. said "Jumbo couldn't work out the logistics."
Ronnie Rantz really dropped the ball on this one.

I really wish the CST would get with it and negotiate with either Charter or Direct Tv so we can actually see these games on the Northshore. 220,000 people over here and we cant get these nor Hornet games.

Stupid.

Rantz would've televised it, I think someone got involved and in order to get a better walk up crowd decided not to televise it.

It definitely helped attendance.

I moved from cable to Direct Tv years ago, they don't have it. Not going through another overhaul and get the Dish.

Have they fixed the problem with loosing the feed from satilite every time it rains? I had Dish Network about 10 yrs. ago and I would loose the feed every time it got cloudy. So I went back to cable. Also I find it a lot more cheaper than the dish. On some things the dish was great until you lost the feed. Also you do not get real satilite feed on the dish at least we didn't then we had to mount an outside antena to recieve local tv.

very outdated, i have had directtv since the week after Katrina. my sat goes out less than my cable did. In fact with a generator, i watched sat tv the entire time during Gustov. I get all the local channels (other than CST as it is cox owned) and i think it is cheaper than cable. the biggest advantage is the sports coverage, like the masters this weekend. DTV has 7-9 channels that will be the tour only in HD. 1 for the leader, 1 for amen corner, 1 for hole 1, one for hole18 1 for cbs coverage etc....they do the same for all 4 tennis majors, and the olympics. NFL sunday ticket is unchallanged as a must for any fan of pro football.

i heard the same thing from someone pretty tight with ronnie .. he had every intention of doing the game, but other parties "negotiated" him away from doing this game for the gate .. the biggest crowd the WPC had drawn up until last night was around 6,600 ... i understand over 10K were in there last night .. if so, between gate and concessions prolly another $70 to $100K was brought in ...

but, eventually, LSU is just going to have to accept the fact that people just basically expect everything to be televised and stop worrying about the gate ... almost as if the nickel is telling the dollar what to do ..

(sigh), If Ronnie needs some extra cash for his company, I guess I can't blame him.

It was supposed to be on CST, but the awful Hornets were on instead. I think the Hornets have priority over Jumbo on CST.

That's my opinion. I don't know that for sure.

It was never scheduled to be on CST. It would probably have aired on WNOL or WGNO. I believe that's where past Jumbo Sports productions were aired.

It takes money to deliver the broadcast. Blame lack of sponsorship for delivering the product. Few people love LSU baseball more than Ronnie, or work harder to give it to fans.

He was really the first local guy to get LSU baseball onto television. LSU baseball way before LSU baseball was cool. Unfair.

the baseball games would be on channel 4 on cox in BR with a hornets conflict on channel 37 .. i really don't think that was a factor ..

i would say blame the insane production costs, that drive advertising rates to borderline insane levels ... ronnie is having to depend more and more on the deep pocket guys like a mockler beverage, a cribbs incorporated, a mcdonald's, etc. ... main street just can't afford his product right now ... the mom and pop businesses that could/should be the backbone of his business model just can't shell out those bucks in this economy ... you can't blame the average joe restaurant owner for not being able to afford an advertising package ...

monetarily, the shite rolls up hill ..

great guy that has always done a great job with it too ...

i will have to disagree on that one .. ronnie hopped the bandwagon after a few NCs were in the tank ...

Rag, you seem to know a lot about Rantz's advertising rates. What are they for a single spot each game?
