Reggie Wayne as WR coach and New Orleans recruiter

As awesome as this would be, don't get your hopes up. An article posted by Nola.com yesterday says

quote:

"I'm a soccer dad," Wayne said after noting that he loves retirement. "I'm going around and dropping the kids off and doing parent-teacher conferences and things like that, stuff I never saw myself doing."

quote:

A John Ehret graduate, Wayne is living in Miami with his wife and children aged 13, 7, 5 and 3 -- "all different personalities," he said. And after a year away from the game, he doesn't miss football. "Not at all," he said. "I gave them everything I had. I got nothing left in the tank. I'm enjoying life now."

Maybe we're splitting hairs, but to me, a miss is Wilson, a guy we had a legit shot at and high hopes going into NSD, and he goes in another direction. With their Dad being a jacket alum and heavily influencing their decision, that wasn't a battle JJ was ever going to win.

One of 3 things happened here:

1.) They fricked up in recruiting.

2.) Canada wants to bring his guys in.

3.) They fricked in recruiting and did something against the rules that O found out about.

Craig was out for himself. He didn't mesh with the other coaches from what I've heard. I think reading between the lines his eyes were always set elsewhere and it may have affected his recruiting for LSU. In fact, he's a good recruiter, but he honestly didn't do THAT great as recruiting coordinator. I imagine O has a plan here.

People say Craig took a different position. Maybe LSU wanted to get in front of the news? I don't know, something never seemed 100% Kosher about him.

I wasn't sold on Jabar Juluke either. Didn't seem to have the pedigree to take over that coaching position.

Better now than later. We had the shittiest WR and RB recruiting class I can remember in a long time.

One thing is for sure...Aranda can recruit NO DOUBT. This incoming defense is stacked.

BJS wants to be running back and we wanted him as a LB, but he ain't an SEC running back. Tre would have been a roster drag for multiple years because he's not nearly as good as the guys we actually got.

Misses aren't always bad. But if we offered them and they went elsewhere, we missed.

Id say it's a little bit of all 3 of those reasons.

New coach wants his own staff.
CEO trimming fat and making improvements where he sees necessary.
That's his call to make.

My top replacements:

Tommie Robinson USC RB coach

Jeff Scott Clemson WR coach (Dabo is the best WR coach in college football and this dude has been learning from Dabo....and he's a good recruiter.)

We had to fight to keep our only RB recruit in a year we wanted two. And we had to fight to secure a WR commitment from a school the recruiter used to be the head coach at. Juluke was struggling.

Didn't get that from Jab and I'm not the only one that has said that on this board. The fact that Ed thinks he is the new orleans guy is nuts. This ain't the 90's and early 00's when lsu totally abandoned new orleans and it was easy pickings for u.

Ed O is respected all over the New Orleans area. You do not need to be a black coach to recruit New Orleans!

NOLA proper itself is slightly overrated as a recruiting hotbed. Ideally you want a connection that can pull kids from there, but we are not living and dying with Orleans parish. It's the whole metro area that is the true hotbed, & the demographics there aren't exactly the same as it is in New Orleans parish.

He'll get over it. We need coaches who are great recruiter. Championships are won on national signing day! We bombed on RB and WR recruiting in 2017, end of story!

This is why young athletes should not have social media accounts, regardless of whether he is correct or not

They have too much to lose by running off at the mouth without first thinking things through.

I'm starting to think O and Ponamsky really are reading this board and going with public opinion

Or maybe we're just not used to having a coach that sees glaring problems and actually chooses to fix them.
