Few things I saw online about him.
- His father played RB at UH and in the NFL for 4 years.
- Younger brother is a PG with offers from Baylor, A&M, Ole Miss, St. Johns. etc.
- Had 1200 yards and 11ypc through 5 games as SR. before injury.
I saw a few people posts about how we'd be in trouble if he was our best RB but honestly it just sounds like he was a guy that flew under the recruiting radar.

Honestly, his high school film wouldn't be out of place if it belonged to a 4-star prospect out of high school. He's got speed to run away from people, he has moves, he sees running lanes a lot better than John Emery does and he's got a low center of gravity.
If Williams ends up getting carries I wouldn't be surprised at all if he turns out to be a good option. If nothing else he's a perfect fit for LSU's offense being a back who can catch it and make plays in the open field.
Williams' senior film from Kinkaid HS in Houston

He always shows up and you know JW has his bumps and bruises.....cannot say the same about other veterans

That's not a good signIf he gets significant playing time.

Sounds like the active running backs are all going ot get at least a couple carries

I'm not praying he starts, but he was the only guy I saw get past a safety one-on-one last year.

Good post. Once you’re in college your high school stars don’t matter. See Jacob Hester and CEH.

Fine with him as a 3rd RB. If he has to start against a formidable SEC defense LSU is fricked

4.4 speed? 11 yards per carry?
legit
legit

who's all currently ruled out at running back besides Goodwin?

Clyde was rated a 4 star by 247, and a top 5 all purpose back concensus.
It's very rare for a high school kid to get overlooked, when their dad or family member was a big time player in college. He also is from a huge market city with tons of camps. The excuse of exposure or under the radar is just that.
Rb is maybe the most easily productive position in football, since there's so many good athletes. Good for him for working his tail off. Hope he gets some carries, but I agree, if he's our lead rb we're in trouble against the sec.

He was significantly better than Tre Bradford last year, probably better than Curry too

He definitely is shifty

247 had Clyde as a 3-star and # 378 overall. I’d say he was overlooked

4 star by 247 , the composite was 378 and 3 star. And a top 5-6 all purpose back isn't a bad rating either. I'd say cushenberry, Damien Lewis, Jefferson with the grade issues forcing him ranked low... are your overlooked.
Josh Williams is a tiger, hope he kicks some arse this year

Sounds like he fits a CEH mold
Posted on 9/3/21 at 5:30 pm to Sterling Archer
CEH came in as 3 star and left a first round draft choice. Guys who have to work for things get used to working for things. I’m so glad we have Josh on our team. And he really does have good vision for the running lanes!

Great story, but he plays small and isn’t as fast as you’d want him to be.
