Unfortunately there are only 9 spots in the lineup and there’s another lefty outfielder who has been too much of a menace lately to sit against righties

Well, can't sit Frey these days. So it's either Jake or Pearson.

Except for the swing at ball four. But Pearson isn’t the reason we lost.

We are in our semi-regular offensive doom loop where the whole lineup either K’s, grounds out to a middle infielder, or pops out.

Now you understand why Jay made that move of putting Jared at third and Jake at 1st. He agrees with you

He wanted to get Moscona to shut up by proving the point.

Worse that that. Brown is 180 vs left handed pitching and he started vs ATM.

Did you want him to start today? He has started 8 games in SEC play this season against right handed pitchers and has a total of 4 hits, 3 walks and 4 strikeouts in 23 at bats. (Some of those at bats could have been against lefties that came in out the pen)

Against A&M he would have at most gotten 2 at bats before a righty came in, and Brown put a good swing on the ball his second at bat against that lefty.

We have 3 guys that hit over .300 in the SEC and we are struggling to score runs. Brown was second on the team in avg. first in OPS (if you excluded Beck) 2nd in HRs and 2nd in RBIs. He was also tied for first in stolen bases. And he had about half the at bats as everyone else.

I know Brown gets crap for his glove but last I checked Pearson was leading the outfield in errors so it’s reasonable to believe Brown, Stanfield, and Curiel give us our best outfield. Stanfield might be leading now.

At some point you have to let Brown hit. You are letting Curiel hit, why not Brown? You are letting Milam switch hit when he is barely above .200 in conference.

Keeping Pearson as first off the bench is a pretty good luxury to have.

Braswell, whoever is catching, Milam, can all be pinch hit for to get a right on left matchup and he is also a great candidate to pinch run.

It’s not. Stanfield has done nothing lately to be in the lineup. The good fielder thing is a complete false narrative

Jay wanted to get Brown reps against reputable LHP. He did and saw what he saw. All season and now can let it go until next season. He is probably about .150 for the season vs LHP. Can’t give outs away.

What does that have to do with my post? OP said JP was “historically the hottest batter” in Hoover. I just posted his stats.

The whole team hit like garbage.

I’m say it was for all of the seasons. Pearson was by FAR a better option than Jake Brown vs LHP.
