Their leading receiver going into the fall has a whopping 24 career catches.

Add that to an offense that will be pretty much shifting from a zone read offense to a pass offense.

That offense will have alot of learning to do in the offseason, IMO.

Rueben, for as great as his future is, had 11 catches last year
He was the #3 WR. How many catches did the #1 and #2 WR's have? He gained quality game experience so he can step into that #2 role. He was on the field alot and caught just about everything thrown his way... do you not think he will fill that #2 role as well or better than others have lately?

point being that as great as he is he contributed very little. LSU was fortunate w/ injuries last year at the WR pos. Any injuries next year and LSU doesn't have that luxury waiting in the wings. The fact that for some reason you even mention a starting corner in the depth chart says a lot ab the depth

Gonzales, in the Songy interview, said that CT was vastly improved in a few months, hungry to get on the field and was going to be a major asset for the offense this year. So, it looks like he will be stepping up. I'd take TT, RR, RS and an improved CT.

you can toss that WR listing out the window. Kid is starting opposite Peterson.
I know but he has been cross trained as a WR. I'm just saying if we had multiple injuries and had to have someone play that knows the plays, he is an option. I don't think it would ever come to that. I think we have pleanty of depth and freshman can usually fill that #3 or #4 WR role without much problem if we have injuries.

he played WR the first two days in practice at LSU last year, and then has been at CB ever since.

So you don't think one of the 5 freshman WR's we have coming in can fill in that #4 role if we have an injury.

maybe, but wouldn't have much confidence. After listening to BG last week, he's got a lot of work to do w/ the WR corps.

Deangelo Peterson is a WR...kind of. He's listed at TE (he's a dangerous receiver at TE), but I'm sure he could be split out at WR if we needed him to fill in.

What did he say? I missed it... Hopefully he is just trying to light a fire under them for summer workouts.

and I'm fine with Boone vs. Taylor if that's the case

Good call. Forgot about him. He could surely be split out wide in 4 WR sets...

You have evidence to the contrary?

I'm just saying it isn't a coincidence that two WRs were let go when we have 4 coming in with the next class, and two already committed for the class after that.

Just like it is no coincidence we let a FB go when we've got another excellent FB coming in with the next class.

Maybe these guys were a little banged up. But shoulder injuries and concussion issues don't sound like career-ending issues. I think it was convenient that these players be let go to make room for incoming players.

It has to be done. Its the dirty little secret of college sports. The SEC is the worst in the country when it comes to this.

Parsons was the best FB that played last year, and I think the staff would have learned the hard way ab counting on a HS kid to come in and play such a physical pos. in the SEC

Mo is not playing wr ever, he is the starting weak side CB if he gets hurt playing WR who is playing CB, think we are shallow at WR take a look at DB,
Also you cant count on any player until they prove they can perform during the game.

books... just think about doucet.. he wasnt catching shite when he had clayton, bowe, and davis in front of him. But great wrs step up when it is their turn and we havent had that problem in quite some time. Rueban wasnt going to catch 25-30 passes with toliver and lafell in front of him.
