My sentiments exactly. Quite frankly, I was shocked to read this boards reaction. I still do not expect this team to win more than 8 games and they’ll get throttled by the better teams on the schedule.

Joel is a well-know SEC hater. But that’s what you get when put a microphone in front of a SEC hater mouth.

I do not see this team getting throttled with that defense and special teams. One or two may have a chance to do that if they are lucky, but that's about it. Also, many people and media members thought it was dominant as you can see by the headlines following the game. Obviously, the pollsters thought it was dominant too because LSU made a huge jump.

Then you need to get your eyes checked. LSU has many problems on their team right now that need to get cleaned up.

Burrow was very average in the passing game, WRs dropped balls, oline got their shite kicked in at several points in that game, complete blown coverages, front four lacked pressure all game with the exception in a few areas. Chaisson is also gone for the season now. The front 4 was not as good as they were advertised. Lawrence got a sack early in the game but aside from that, most of the game QB had all day to throw unless LSU decided to send 7 on a blitz. That's not going to fly against better teams. you have to get consistent pressure with front 4 and they did not do it enough in this game. The QB for Miami was just awful with open WRs.

I thought that the offense took their foot off the gas at the end of the first half by kneeling. Their doesn't seem to be a killer instinct in this team that will come back to bite us in the arse if it doesn't develop. Playing not to lose sucks in my opinion.

He should look at the 2011 LSU VS Oregon stats. That game, like this, was never in question.

What if..when we sack Rosier on 3rd down in the 4th quarter, we don’t grab him by the face mask and extend their driver which eventually lead to their first TD.

The “what If” game is fine and all but it doesn’t change we kicked their arse and then got vanilla. I’m glad to get the win. Even if we would have won on a Hail Mary to end the game. It’s a game 1 win and now we can take a breath and go get better against SELU. Then, we will be ready for a show down with Auburn.

1 game at a time, right??

1-0 is better than 0-1. That’s all that matters.

I also think Miami is better than they played. Rosier is meh but the rest of the team is legit.

Man, I hope the coaches listen to Klatt and read the Rant.

Come on folks...you don’t think all position coaches, coordinators, and HC are dissecting every play from every possible angle to pinpoint mistakes and areas of improvement? They all know it’s only one game and they know the players better than anyone.

Just about every team has issues to clean up from game 1. LSU did WAY more things well though.

Their special teams were phenomenal - see field goal kicking and SEC Player of the Week, Cole Tracy, kickoffs, punting, opponents punt returns and LSU's lone return.

Their defense shut down Miami's running game and constantly had pressure on the QB. Most importantly, they held Miami out of the end zone until the 4th quarter when it was out of hand and 2nd stringers were in. And they created two turnovers and scored off of one of them (see SEC co-defensive player of the week, Jacob Phillips).

The offense had zero turnovers and led the team to 20 points in the first half. They converted two 4th downs. The passing game, though not great, moved the ball downfield and helped put points on the board early. The O-line helped our RB get 120+ yards and 2 TDs. I'm sorry, I saw some 1st game issues, but not the "many problems" you talked about. I think you were looking for a perfect game in game #1. Bottom line is that LSU handled Miami easily.

LSU had a big lead, and went conservative. No need to take chances, or show your whole hand

First game of the season with new QB, wide receivers, cornerbacks, you name it. And we still won, some wins are ugly, but we won.

Or if Miami’s punter understood the concept of an effective punt, he could’ve pinned LSU back by flipping the field, but we’ll never know.

That’s reason #1 why we didn’t win the total yardage comparison, we had great starting field position seemingly every drive.

Joel Klatt can suck it.

They didn't just let them score. They had no idea that their DB's would give up those late touchdowns. Besides, Miami has talent too. They were picked to win.

Minus 2 big plays the game was really close.

Minus 2 Miami 3rd or 4th down conversions in the 4th quarter we won by 30

3rd down stat is misleading because we were trying to run down the clock with run run run.

It definitely affected it. We still shoulvldve been able to run the ball more effectively in the 2nd half to covert more 3rds and sustain a few drives.

That's what I've been saying. We did not dominate as the final score would suggest.
