however, bobby jindal and his posse is more responsible and he skates on getting the blame.

This is a problem with the state constitution not Jindal...granted he made more cuts, but that was because it's statutorily demanded that higher ed get the first budget cut.

we should still be able to get any coach we want. I refuse to believe that taf couldn't pony up money.

Les Miles is the highest paid state employee with an annual salary of $300K. Who do you think pays the balance of that $4 million? This means LSU only pays $300K of Miles' $4.3 million dollar annual salary.

Prior to OC pay raise Stud was paid $175K by LSU.

I call BS on this rumor, TAF funds would be available if a coach is wanted.

Edit to correct: The most recent info I could find indicates that Les is now the 23rd highest paid state employee at $300K per year, but this is still dated info.

I agree. He's too weak to be LSU AD.

It's just shite like this that separates us from Bama constantly. They would never shut down a guy for Saban because of money. Never.

dos crystal,

Please stop posting your personal agenda and attack on the Governor in a TD topic haha For the record, the athletics department donates $7.2 mil a year to the university, not the $8 mil you stated. That leaves $800K in limbo, which could be used for various expenses, like buying a new OL coach. Stop with the attacks and look at the facts my dude. I commend the athletics department for giving back because without a university you do not have an athletics program, that is often forgotten by the Tiger faithful. But we do still have enough funds to buy a decent OL coach.

With the new tv money we should be able to increase the recruiting budget, continue to fund the academic side, and hire the best available coaches.

I agree with you for once. I'm very skeptical of this.

I am not a fan of Alleva though.

This is actually true. People will take the moral high ground of "Do we really want the Football program running the state?" And the answer would be...yes.

Way to bring some insight to the board. Kudos.

Ok so it's 7.2 million instead of 8 million. That's still a lot of money taken out of the annual budget to help LSU academics. Dos crystal has a point with Jindal continually screwing LSU financially. You may like Jindal but he hasn't done anything to help LSU progress academically since he's been in office.

He's been nothing buy a hatchet man when it comes to higher education instead of growing some fricking balls and actually trying to change the bloated system. That's for another board though.

Mike Scarborough was on the radio yesterday, and he said Washington was a done deal for the Offensive Line coaching position, but big daddy Alleva wouldn't agree to the salary.

His reasoning? Dead weight money

I'd be shocked if this is true. With the money the football program makes, we have to keep up with the other big names in College football. To deny Miles a coach over a few 100K seems ridiculous.
