again, just checking in to see whether SFP would actually pick 2009 JJ over 2007 Flynn.

I wouls still take Flynn, but its a lot closer than most of the "focus on the ball" yahoos think it is.

Flynn would not have been sacked 15 times thus far.

Reality disagrees.
We have played 11 games so far this season.
In 2007, Flynn was sacked 26 times in 11 games

I generally hate these which qb is better threads, because to me they are all tigers...but I also hate it when people skew the facts....To me, when you offense scores at least 28 points no matter what you did a good job directing an offense. And people are quick to forget that he was injured a bunch, just like the rest of that team down the stretch (which had a lot to do with the loss to Arkansas)...

flynn would have gone over saturday night and kicked miles in the nuts and told him to get the field goal unit on the field. much better coach on the field.
Hopefully JJ gets there but you are right. Not even close to where Flynn was as a sophomore playing Miami.

i dont have issues and yes there have been plenty people on here that says jj is to stupid to play qb.
Posted on 11/24/09 at 2:38 pm to Antonio Moss
but how could he have been sacked that many times with the best off line known to man? I bet if JJ had that line, he would have only been sacked twice

Does it hurt you as bad when people say that Hester was too slow to be a RB?
Posted on 11/24/09 at 2:44 pm to dogman67
yes some people are sayin he is dumb ans no flynn wasnt great in 07. My god all you people who are sayin flynn was great in 07 have no grasp of football. Period
Posted on 11/24/09 at 2:47 pm to PRIDGENTIGER
Thanks....you must be a lib...since I don't agree with you I have no grasp of football. I am sure you will do well in all your future debates...
Posted on 11/24/09 at 2:48 pm to dogman67

I agree with all this. I never said that Flynn was bad. In fact, I thought Flynn did a good job at QB in 2007. However, many people on this board and fans of LSU in general don't understand how much goes into making an offense successful. There is an old saying that "quarterbacks get way too much credit when they win and way too much criticism when they don't." This is absolutely the case with LSU quarterbacks. People make Flynn out to be this incredible QB when, in fact, LSU had one of the best rushing offenses in its history that allowed drives to be sustained and kept defenses focused on the run. LSU also had a much better defense than 2009 which allowed Flynn to get many more possessions and the opportunity to score many more points. But when these discussions come around, many people either ignore these facts or are completely ignorant of them. They can only focus on the overall results - "we won a National Championship so he must be better."
Even when you compare statistics, Flynn comes in behind Jefferson and way behind Russell - but again "we won a National Champioship so he must be better."
Jordan Jefferson has done a more than servicable job this season at quarterback. He has virtually no running game to balance the offense, an inept offensive line, and an offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach who has lost the ability to call plays. But the kid keeps putting up numbers and moving the ball as best he can. Is he the best QB in the conference? Absolutely not. Is he the worst? Far, far from it. And he is far and away the best QB eligible to play.

why do you think im a lib? It pisses me off that dumbass people call JJ stupid. They wouldnt say it to his face. I got friends from just about every sec team and the only fanbase that thinks jj sucks is lsu fans. He has no running game no oline and horrible playcalling.even with that he has put up flynn type numbers. So all you assholes that call out our qb for being stupid, well you might as well say flynn is stupid too. And why are you bringing up political shite. I think your stupid because you have proven in this thread u r

Jefferson is arguably the third best QB in the conference.
Tebow and Mallet are clearly ahead. Snead has an argument, but I'm not sure I'd take him over Jefferson.
Crompton, nope.
Cox, nope.
McElroy, probably not.
Smith, nope.
Lee, nope.
Hartline, maybe but probably not.
Todd, nope.
Garcia, nope.

totally agree with everything you said. I get so mad when people on here talk shite about jj. He has no help in the run game and 0 pass protection. Yes he has areas he needs to improve on but every fan from other sec schools talk about how he looks like he'll be a stud. Then you talk to idiots on here and they are sayin he is stupid and sucks
