The segments of trivia to stump the expert. The question was, “ player with the last name Taylor to score the most tds in NFL history?”

The answer was Jim Taylor at 93 tds.

Jim would have scored a lot more if, after running the ball down field, he was allowed to score. Instead, the ball would be given to Notre Dame Golden Boy, Paul Hornung. Hornung also kicked figs and pats, so he would win the Leading Scorer Award for the NFL.

Vince Lombardi and the Packers hated LSU before hating LSU was cool.

Everyone knows about Jim Brown’s greatness, but Jimmy was usually No2 in rushing behind Brown. One year he beat Brown for the rushing title.

His battles with Hall of Fame LB Sam Huff were legendary.

I'm pretty sure that when Jim Brown retired, the entire top 10 rushing seasons in NFL history comprised of just seasons by Jim Brown and Jim Taylor

Jim Taylor is also still the last white guy to lead the NFL in rushing. McCaffrey came close in 2019, he was #3, and so far this year he's the leading rusher so we'll see if he can keep that pace.

Jim Taylor is one of the true greats to play the game! He was tough minded and a great leader. I love to see replays of the 60's packers under Lombardi.

Sam Huff, great NFL LB, said Brown could make you miss, Taylor could ram his thigh thru your chest.

Jimmy was my Dad’s favorite player college and pro.

Amazing to think that Jimmy’s senior season at LSU was Billy Cannon’s sophomore season.

Anyone have any info about that season.?

LINK

Tigers finished 5-5 in Deitzel’s 3rd season.

Bama finished 2-7-1 to finish next to last in the conference. Bear Bryant started the next year at Bama.

Auburn 10-0 NC

Largest attendance fo the Tigers was at home against No 17 Georgia Tech (in SEC) 59,000+ in Tiger Stadium.

I think capacity was 67,500.

I remember an answer he gave about why he didn't veer away from a defensive player near the goal line and instead turned into him and knocked him into the end zone -

Said - "you got to make 'em hurt a little."

Steve van Buren was another forgotten LSU alum NFL great. Led the Eagles to their first titles back to back and was the Jim Brown of his day. He was really the first great RB in the NFL.
