His best attribute is that he's nostalgic for almost every tiger fan, not the fact he's an exceptional announcer.

He's a great tiger, and I wish him the best. He's been living the dream getting to go to almost every LSU game

Plenty of people will be here to hate on the man but his voice is/was legendary and we'll see that right away with whoever replaces him.

I'm probably in the minority....but I always liked Hawthorne.....I'm gonna' miss him....

Hawthorne, who first joined LSU as the play-by-play commentator for the men's basketball team in 1979-80, will call his final season of LSU baseball this spring.

Listening to Jim's broadcasts of baseball games have been frustrating over the years to say the least.

Regardless I wish him well in retirement.

Also I would imagine Charlie would be the front runner to take his spot?

I'll be the first to admit that his negative and irritable attitude lately tends to rub me the wrong way. But all is forgiven after reminiscing of the countless times he's brought to life LSU football, basketball & baseball games when I was not able to watch in person or on TV. His voice is all I've ever know when it comes to LSU radio. He will be missed greatly

"He hits it hard into left, it's going back, back, back, and they make the catch in shallow center."

He's going to be missed because I honestly don't know any different than Jim Hawthorne and LSU games.

Hell...fricking...NO!

The guy is decent at baseball but I wouldn't trust him with Southern football and basketball, let alone LSU.
