FYI, he doesn't give a shite about the outcome of the game and he just wants to go home. And if you don't believe it go back and listen to the game again. He wasn't the most depressed when LSU was losing, he was most depressed when the game was tied and he knew it was going to extra innings and when he thought it was going to go to the 13th.
He spent half the game talking about it being a midweek game and it not making a difference in the long run, so LSU losing or not driving across the winning run when they had a chance shouldn't have made him so upset. He even went great lengths at the end of the Georgia loss Saturday to explain it was only one game and that LSU could still win the series, etc.
The baseball team losing doesn't bother him. Having to sit in the booth past his bedtime and do his fvcking job is what bothers him. I can't really understand anyone who even attempts to dispute this fact. You can easily tell by his tone, but half the time he doesn't even try to hide it with his numerous complaints and comments.

There is so much wrong with what you said I don't know where to begin.
Hawthorne spoke about the higher level of importance in the SEC weekend games as opposed to a midweek game. He said they matter, but not as much as SEC.
Do you not see the potential negative aspects of an almost meaningless midweek game that goes into extra innings to our team...especially when we have to drive straight to Auburn following the game. The players and coaches are gonna be exhausted before they ever find a bed to sleep in.
I feel sorry for you if you can't comprehend that, but that is where Jim was coming from last night...he sees the bigger picture.
On another note: I haven't argued this much on here since Mainieri's first/second seasons when all you people wanted him gone and I was in the minority defending him. (I had another s/n)

The fact that you somehow bring Mainieri, who I never once questioned btw, into a completely unrelated discussion tells me that you are admitting the severe beating you have taken in this debate.

That pretty much hits the nail on the head.

He's a whiny bitch that sucks at his job
he has made some good calls, but they are few and far between.
He's past his prime and needs to bow out before he says something on air that would embarrassing to lsu

Your point is that Hawthorne was looking at the big picture which is a total joke, and then you brought up Mainieri for some unknown reason.
So when Hawthorne complains about pitchers working slow, about the umpire taking his time and walking a new ball out to the pitcher after the catcher just took a foul ball to the nuts, and about coaches making multiple trips to the mound.....he is only doing it because he sees the big picture? GMAFB.

I have listened to JH for his entire LSU career; probably well over a thousand games. While I don't know his intent, he unquestionably comes off this way. Many, many, many times I have wondered why he gets so impatient during baseball games.

Then, he would fit right in as a poster on the Rant cause we got plenty of "grumpy old" men types.

My opinion: If the people who pay his salary to
broadcast games must be happy or they would "move
on" and hire someone else...
