the one that hawthorne seems to have gotten away with was warren morris's famous HR in the 1996 NCG .. jim clearly calls it a three-run homer when it is a two-run homer .. surprised LSU never got him to dub that one over like the bluegrass miracle ..

As do most listeners - Ford was simply awful last night for the Coastal Carolina Game -

I really did think I heard Hawthorne say Randall Gay instead of (Rueben) Randle last week.

listening to that lisp (you know what kind of lisp) drives me nuts. Come on already. I'm not a huge Jim Hawthorne fan but he is the voice of LSU football and announces without a delay. How many times have you sat in the stands and missed the exact end result or immediate happening during the play.

What gets me about Hawthorne is he only has one job and cannot memorize the players numbers. He also has a spotter. He must be getting alzheimers.

i really like the podcast he hosts. always gives shouts out the tigers.
I get exactly what he's saying, and agree completely. I admire Hawthorne's dedication to the Tigers, but any objective observer would have to agree that he gets it wrong a lot.

I don't think the Ford run is a big deal. Live it definitely looked like he scored, and I know I didn't realize it until a couple of seconds later
I was highstepping through my living room when I found out he didn't score.
And, I've heard multiple similar stories.

But with all the games on TV, who listens to Jim H. on the radio? The fans in Tiger Stadium??? Some cab drivers?

In big games I want to listen to a homer calling the plays and I cannot fricking handle the shite that gets spewed by the likes of Lunquist, Danielson, and Mussburger.

That's what I think when I tune in LSU radio. Jim Hawthorne is so bad, I refuse to listen. If I can't watch on TV, then I'll just watch the box score on ESPN.

True, but would you have described the TE as "Wide Open" and not even mentioned Reid was challenging the play? Think about if you're just listening, and have no visual on the play. Jim tells you a guy is wide open, and makes a catch at the one. Then 3 seconds later, he tells you Eric Reid actually intercepted the ball. No matter how you slice it, that's a horrendous way to describe the play.
Gary Danielson described Williams as "Wide Open" on the play until Reid tracked him down. So...
