Thought about starting a new thread but I'll just leave this here.

The play calling today (for the most part not a criticism of Cam, just the way the game played out) treated AJ like he was Mett save a few option plays.

QB's (like batting and shooting in hoops) is a matter of confidence and rhythm. AJ never got into a rhythm throwing the ball and the ebb-n-flow of the game didn't afford us the luxury of "wasting" a series/possession devoted to getting AJ on track.

I think he'll be a fantastic QB once his skill set is integrated more in the O and once he no longer plays tentatively. It'll come.

LSU don't owe Jennings anything.

Well, I don't know if we owe him anything, but we most likely get a L against Arkansas without him coming in and running and gunning it for 99 yards with barely any time left. That hasn't been our strong point recently.

Expound on how much JJ got better from his 1st bowl game as a freshman

Beat Bama a few times...but then kind of took one of those off the board with the finale performance. So it got better and then worse...ha.

The last QB we had that came in and could run a offense was Tommy Hodson.

Herb Tyler came in and did really well right away. Hodson had more talent though as a pure QB.

I'm sure he'll bet better but his pocket presence, or lack of it shocked me.

it was bizarre. with very few exceptions, he just stood flatfooted while he stared down his first option, then sort of froze. he seemed to scan the field a bit but wasn't "seeing it" or shifting his feet at all or rolling out to wait for someone to get open. and obviously didn't trust his ability to hit a receiver in any sort of coverage. that miracle OBJ catch was sort of like OBJ's way of saying, "look dude, just throw the damned ball and see what we can do!"

Most if not all of the sacks were on AJ, and not the line, which is crazy given how many times the line almost got Mett killed.

(And the INT was just a shite throw. Sailed on him, and it seemed like he threw off his back foot, but i can't remember that for certain.)

i hope it clicks for him, but the opener next season is going to be a tall order.
