His connections with SoCal and the West Coast is going to be a bonus for LSU recruiting and I just wanted to show you how he did at recruiting for Arizona.

Year: Overall (Pac-12 Ranking)

Years Before JJ
2011: 48th (8th)
2012: 14th (4th)
2013: 34th (7th)
2014: 36th (7th)
2015: 67th (8th)

JJ's Recruiting Classes at Arizona
2016: 4th (2nd)
2017: 23rd (4th)
2018: 9th (1st)
2019: 11th (2nd)
2020: 4th (1st)

I also want to add that LSU already has the #2 and #5 recruiting classes for 2022 and 2023 which can only help JJ's transition to the school.

Yes but it all starts with being able to recruit. If you can't get kids to campus, it does not matter. He can recruit and thats a good thing

Recruiting has not been an issue

Player development is the issue

That’s not entirely true. You have to recruit the right type of players. Remember a few years ago when Paul didn’t have a single left handed pitcher on the roster?

Recruiting is more than just a number on paper.

I agree. On top of that you have to recruit the guys who will make it to campus.

That was a roster management issue. That was not a recruiting issue

Our pitching hasn’t been deep in like 6 years (except maybe 2017, and even then the lack of depth may have cost us a title)

We had three legit starters this year before Hill got hurt

Once again, the pitchers on roster have been highly recruited. Development is a different issue

As long as the average height of the recruits isn’t 5’9” and 160lbs I’ll be happy.

I still think it’s gonna come down to the pitching coach he brings in as far as competing for national championships. But yes, getting talented players to campus is very important.

Recruiting isn’t the #1 thing.

Skips teams regularly beat teams that were better player by player.

It’s about in-game decision making and motivation.

Can you make baseball players and then put them in position to win and the get them to believe it.

Player development and getting kids to campus. PM recruited kids that are definitely going pro and not coming to campus. Then he’s left picking scraps to fill the roster

We just landed the #1 class and we were all ready for Paul to go after this season so wins will mean a hell of a lot more than internet recruit rankings

Just win

Most every player on his 2021 Arizona roster is over 6 feet tall.

I don’t know about that. He was a great coach, for sure, but Skip regularly had the most talented teams in college baseball.
