100% He had some frustrating moments on the field, but he definitely more than made up for them last season. Off the field, he’s never been anything but a great representative of the program since arriving. He seems like a class kid and the players all seem to respect him.

Just because many people were justifiably critical of his play at times last year, doesn't mean they hated him. I've followed TD pretty closely, and have not really come across any posts that would qualify as actual hate, although I'm sure there may have been a rare few that were missed.

That’s all fine and good, but there are several assholes around here who took it to a different level and got really personal with it. There’s just no reason for that shite.

I guess nuss is qb 2, but there's not much drop off when he comes in. He's not as fast, but he's a long way from slow. Has a cannot for an arm and is accurate.

It's a great problem to have. 2 class act guys that would both start at 95 percent of d1 schools in the country.

Agreed. Anyone who commits to and puts it out there for the purple and gold should be appreciated for their commitment and service, even if they totally screw up. That's not to say they should be immune from criticism, but these are still kids. Keep that perspective and never cross the line making it personal.

Also, don't grant a few vocal idiots spokesmanship for the entire fanbase. IMO, that's where the real damage is done.

Nuss knows he's the next man up, and he can also see what Kelly is building.

This, and I’m impressed with the patience of Nuss. It’s becoming more and more rare. Our quarterback position is lined up perfectly for next 3-4 seasons.
____________________________________________________________Nuss’ loyalty in this new NIL “age” is most admirable, besides he may feel he’s better off in the long run being back up and next year starter at Top Five ranked and potential natty winner LSU than probably being a 2 year starter with some unranked team.

That's better than an unknown somewhere else.

A "year" seems like such a long time for these kids. But who would you rather be? Joe Burrow, who was a 23 year old rookie (but first round, franchise QB) or one of the many, many QBs who came out early and flopped?

Playing QB is as much about maturity as it is ability. Nussmeier is going to be a great pro QB, IMO.

Nuss, like Howard, has been an LSU fan all his life. They both love LSU.
However, there are other factors, like "opportunity" that plays into decisions. Nuss' timing was excellent.
He gains experience in the system, waits his turn, and next season he will be the man.
Howard had similar dreams. Unfortunately for him, it wasn't to be. By the time Nuss leaves Howard would only have one year of eligibility left. Then there would be possibly three other QBs he would have to compete against.
His odds are better at Ole Miss.
Good luck to him.

Agreed…he was so key in several wins last year…don’t care if he throws for 300yds a game or not, the guy is awesome…he is going to give defenses fits trying to scheme for him

Half of all LSU fans, since the invention of the forward pass, has always felt that nobody who the backup is he must be better and should start. Then when he does play, whoever his backup is must be even better.

Last year Daniels showed a spark running the ball that we had never seen consistently from an LSU QB. But he held on to the ball too much and didn’t trust his receivers. So people all wanted Nuss and eventually got him which led to the faithful idiots to claim Howard was even better than them all. LSU fans in general aren’t the smartest.

Let’s just appreciate that we have multiple capabalr starting QBs and have moved on from the Miles days of never having a great QB.

He's no. 3 on my list of favorite LSU QBs behind Joe Burrow and Bert Jones. Talented QB and a class act.

Why would you wish good luck to an Ole Miss QB?

That’s exactly what I tell anybody that listens, ie. My children when they were younger, I always wanted them to be better than me and it was the same way with friends and family! Good to see this !

There hasn't been any hatred of JD here.

The fact that he was not hitting open receivers, and not ever putting the ball into contested coverage is a topic that is the reason this board exists.

There has been plenty of this.

Because, when we beat Ole Miss, and they are winning team, it gives points toward making the playoffs.

In 2007, if Ole Miss had not had Eli Manning as their QB, they would have been losers, therefore no points to qualify a two loss team to for the BCS.
Ole Miss hasn't been a serious threat to LSU since the 60s. If Ole Miss beats us, we really have problems.

I save my hate for Tennessee. If he had transferred to TN, that would be different. I live in East Tn, about an hour from Knoxville.

Same here. It's people that either don't understand the game of football or that have forgotten the QB days of 2008-2017. Or both...

I agree. I understand doubting him last season, but I hope he plays better, well enough to win the Hiesman. If he does, we should win another Natty.

I know it's just practice, but the clips they've showed indicate he's quickened his release, and his footwork looks better.

People get sloppy and lazy with using the term "hate". If they are using that term to describe people who were hoping JD would leave, maybe that's what is meant. I did see that and it was stupid for folks to hope for that, particularly with how JD progressed as the year went on.
