That was my question…why even lead that far off to have to dive back? You aren’t going anywhere. Not blaming anyone, just an observation..he’s not Ricky Henderson or Kramer Kim Mulkey’s son.

Maybe like a weird nerve that only gets aggravated occasionally. No clue but obviously something that could happen more than once. Hoping for the best. I'd imagine MLB teams will already be asking a bunch of questions now that it's showed up twice.

Blew up and watched the video a dozen+ times. Not seeing any shoulder impact. Only wrist.

Really? Go ahead and straighten your arm out, then ram it as hard as you can into something hard. Report back if it's only your wrist that hurts.

I don't think it was the lead as much as he got caught napping and had to try to hurry and get back.

Like Mason Smith, gone in the 1st minutes of the first game. Awful! Hope he recovers quickly.

Now we just have to make sure it was just a pop back in, rest, and go thing. Worst case is some structural issue (even if not an tear) that requires a procedure. If it's popped out twice now, even with no structural damage, he may need to wear a brace permanently (could inhibit his throwing) or need a basic procedure (more time off, but not season ending).

Dude should be doing ongoing and long term shoulder/joint strengthening exercises, he'll always be more susceptible to the same injury going head first into the bag. It's also OK for him to give himself up in a meaningless game outcome scenario like that to protect his shoulder, that was what should have been a low impact move back into the bag and look what happened.

I'm sure this is something that they never thought of and most certainly weren't already doing.

Once you dislocate your shoulder once you’ve weakened the stabilizing structure around the joint and it’s more likely to happen again. I had it happen to me 3 of my 4 years in high school.

The first time happened exactly how Tommy’s happened today except I was diving back into second.

Hurt like a son of a bitch but I was DH a week later was back in the field in two weeks.

That is really great news. Since this was apparently a second shoulder injury, they probably need to work on his headfirst dive.

He isn't a small man, and on the play he was hurt it looked kinda like a belly flop, with a lot of weight and pressure on his lead arm and shoulder.

I sure hope he's ok and back soon.
