And what factors did you research that lead to $2 million lost? Taking one year as an example does not make an average. Well I guess it technically can, but it’s a piss poor average lol. It’s just the last couple of years that we saw a deficit. Led by expenses nearly doubling those compared to just 2 years ago.

LSU baseball's financial performance varies year to year, but available data shows it often operates close to breaking even or at a deficit, despite generating significant revenue. Here’s a breakdown based on recent fiscal years:

Fiscal Year 2024 (July 2023–June 2024): LSU baseball generated $8,021,147 in revenue but incurred $9,989,478 in expenses, resulting in a deficit of approximately $1.968 million.

Fiscal Year 2023 (July 2022–June 2023): The team nearly broke even, with a small deficit of $66,402 during its national championship run. Revenue included $3.5 million from ticket sales and $3.3 million in contributions, but expenses were slightly higher.

Fiscal Year 2022 (July 2021–June 2022): LSU baseball reported $6.06 million in revenue and a profit of $84,595, as stadiums returned to full capacity and contributions reached $2.43 million.

Fiscal Year 2021 (July 2020–June 2021): The program faced a deficit of $2.19 million, with revenue at $2.14 million and expenses at $5.13 million. This was impacted by reduced contributions ($294,904 compared to $1.9 million in 2019) due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Historical Context (Pre-Pandemic): LSU baseball is one of the few college baseball programs to regularly turn a profit. For example, in 2016, it generated $5.8 million in revenue with a $1.5 million profit, and similar profits were recorded in 2014 ($1.8 million) and 2015 ($1.6 million).

Summary: LSU baseball typically generates significant revenue, often between $5–8 million annually, driven by ticket sales and contributions. However, expenses, including coaching salaries, travel, and facilities, frequently match or exceed revenue, leading to deficits in some years (e.g., $1.968 million in 2024, $2.19 million in 2021). The program’s ability to break even or profit, as seen in 2022 and pre-2020 years, is notable compared to most college baseball teams, but recent data suggests deficits are more common when expenses rise or contributions dip.

Congrats CJJ Well deserved!!!

LSU baseball operates at a loss. They made a profit in 2023, but barely. The expenditure for the sake of prestige model is interesting because it is unique to college sports. I guess you could say that the cost to win, which creating a loss, at least minimizes the loss. It is definitely a balancing act.

The name and brand recognition alone is more than enough to pay the man. I dont care if it’s intangible or not attributable directly by those figures. Data is garbage in garbage out.
