Jarrett Lee and his change in starting status... not the same BS about QBs

The more I have thought about the whole Jarrett Lee situation, including his very unfortunate 2008 season, the more I think that in some way, Les Miles may be protecting him from any more of that type of disappointment. Lee was forced into the starting role due to Les' decision to kick Ryan Perillioux - the long anticipated starter - off the team. So it is not hard to think that Les felt respnsible for putting Lee into that position. It was a bad situation and it has been affecting the QBs and the team since spring 2008.

Coach Miles is also playing the QB that gives his team to best chance "at victory" but it would be incredibly difficult for Lee to overcome the emotional toll that would come with not playing his best and the negative effect/loss that might result in 2011.

I think we all thought immediately about Lee and 2008 when he threw those two INTs at Alabama. And Lee had to be thinking that same thing as did Les Miles. Les may well well have said "I can't let that happen again." Maybe he feels some responsibility for Lee's situation/problems in 2008.

Les has stuck with JJ when it wasn't popular. He likes what he brings to the team. But knowing Les more now than we have ever before, I can't help but think that some of his actions with Lee are protective, both of Lee and the team. He has, after all, shown to be sensitive to many issues.

Any thoughts.....???????

Jj is a better qb. It's time to except it and move on.

I think it's splitting hairs

JJ does seem to be a bit tougher and obviously gives us something in the run game

Him being mentally and physically tougher (forget about mobility)

Is 100% why he is starting over lee.

Accept I don't want to except it. Jordan Jefferson runs really well and can throw the ball well accept when he has to check down.

Except. Accept.

I don't disagree with JJ being better because of what he can do with his feet.

But Lee has been in an unusual position since 2008 and shown great character. He played very well early and got us to this point.

Alabama was a little too close to "deja vu all over again" with the two INTs.

I'm not sure about protecting Lee but who knows. The one thing I do know about Les is he does what is best for the team and ignores fan opinion. God forbid we ever have a coach that takes into consideration stupidass fan input. We would be a mediocre program again.

Your guess is as good as anyones.

Lee just cannot get "it" done. As bad as Mr. Jefferson can be and had been frequently, he is better than Lee. No question in my mind after 'Bama redux.

Lee deserves a shitload of credit because he came through for us where Jordan failed (off the field). I agree with your assessment of the situation though. Les is doing what is best for the team. Jordan looks pretty damn good, he's obviously more mobile and looks to have more pocket awareness this year.

If he continues to play like he's played so far LSU will bring home another crystal.

And on the field. Don't be selective with your facts.

Those two INTs at Bama were awful, but he's not going to gain any confidence sitting his arse on the sidelines. There may well come a time in the next two games where we need JL.

It would have been nice, with victory assured against Arky, for Lee to be able to more than just hand off and take a knee. Hell, I can do that. He needs some work in game situations where he'll be able to throw a pass or two against a decent team. Self-esteem is built through accomplishment, not by having someone coddle you and protect you from bad feelings.

JJ has won the job. This isn't fricking t-ball, Les Miles ain't protecting JL from shite, other than bad decisons that affect the team

It's pretty easy to see that JJ was going to have a monster senior year if Shady's hadn't gotten shady, looks that way to my eyes anyway, clearly had grown as a person

Yeah. He looked amazing against Auburn, Bama, WKU and nearly the entire first half versus Arkansas.

I guess that night at Shady's was just EXTREMELY bad judgement on Jefferson's part....being a senior and the starting QB in a year that looked very promising to everyone....

That's a pretty big character mistake......

people are so stupid. Where was he leading to those games dumbass?

If you cannot see his progression, starting with the team from WKU to Arky than your blind. My opinion is that you would have seen that vs Oregon without the fight
