Even if VY being the first 3000/1000 guy for a season in college, being the first QB to beat Ohio State in the Shoe at night and beating the ESPN proclaimed GREATEST TEAM OF ALL TIME pretty much by himself doesn't impress you, JR did nothing in the NFL, and VY was better in the league than people think.

ROY, multiple pro bowls, best winning % in Oilers/Titans franchise history, and another insane comeback against Leinart ([link=( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NUU6YSgNMT0)]LINK[/link] ). Also, if you Google VY & Profootball Focus, you will surprisingly see that Vince was the best deep ball passer in the NFL while he played. VY did all of this with a coach that never wanted him, hated him, and worked against him. People also thought Nick Foles & Jared Goff sucked too, because of Jeff Fisher. Look at what they did when they were mercifully spared from Fisher.

JaMarcus Russell or Vince Young better CFB QB?Tough - Young was a great competitor in college. Russell remains the most impressive passer (at least in college), I've ever seen. That's no disrespect to Bert Jones - that's just how good Russell was.

A better question would have been asking about Vince Young compared to Cam Newton. Both were in a league of their own on the field.

How is this even a question? Did you ever watch Vince young play football at Texas? Dude was absolutely better than Jamarcus.

Just think of it like this. Would 2006 LSU have won a national championship if we would have had Vince Young at quarterback? The answer is yes.

Would 2005 Texas have won a national championship with Jamarcus at the helm? The answer is no.

Young. I loved JR. But he couldn't run like Young.

And one of his worst games just happened to be against UF in 06 who went on to win the Natty. Even though I felt we could have beaten them again given the chance.

I would go with Cam Newton. He was a more accurate passer and had a stronger arm. He was a more complete all-around quarterback and still is.

I don't think that's a coincidence. Florida had an excellent defense that year and Jamarcus couldn't crack it.

After seeing how Florida did against Ohio State, I don't have any reason to believe that LSU would have beaten them other than being a homer as an LSU fan.

Russell was amazing but Vince Young was unstoppable.

In that national championship game against USC, I knew, my wife knew, Vince Young knew, Pete Carroll knew, and everyone knew that if Vince Young touched the ball late in the 4th Quarter, he would score.

USC got stopped on 4th down and Texas got the ball back. Vince scored to win it.

Young only had one good year of college football which was his junior season.

His freshman and sophomore years were average at best.

Just facts.

??LSU Jamarcus Russell vs Tennessee 2006??

something clicked in JR head around half time of that game.
2nd half of the ‘06 Tenn game through rest of the year was simply amazing play by him.

Let’s look at stats:

Freshman year:

Young= 6 TD 7 Int, 1155 passing, yards
Russell= 9 TD 4 Int, 1053 passing, yards

Sophomore year:

Young= 12 TD 11 Int, 1849 passing yards
Russell= 15 TD 9 Int, 2443 passing yards

Junior year:

Young= 26 TD 10 Int, 3035 passing yards
Russell= 28 TD 8 Int, 3129 passing yards

Young and Russell each really only had one great season and that is it if everyone is honest. Young’s great season does trump Russell’s overall.

VY had more rushing yards than Russell and overall everyone should put him above Russell.

But it is clear that Russell was the better passing QB between the two for their college careers.
