For the record, if you go back and read....I'm not the one that's currently close to the situation, a family member is. And that doesn't necessarily mean he is friends with the football team.

yes, you absolutely can, and I didn't say anything about talking to the cops, as far as answering questions, if an agency is able to contact you by phone, asks you to come in, and you tell them that you are waiting to consult with your atty. first, they will agree to wait, end of conversation, if they don't, it potentially weakens the case that they have to present to the DA, if they have a case
